The World Economic Forum (WEF) wants to implant a central bank digital currency (CBDC) microchip under your skin so you can be a legitimate supporter of a corrupt banking system. As scary as this sounds, I think some form of this will be accepted by a large percentage of the world's population, but much fewer here in the United States.
There are two primary reasons why many U.S. citizens will oppose such a ridiculous idea.
First, Americans are fiercely independent and resist any attempt to control them. But not all of us. Some people actually support measures that implement a level of control over others, and we saw that in the U.S. response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, a great majority of U.S. citizens are independent, self-reliant, and uninterested in anything that will be used to track and control them unless there is a compelling reason to think otherwise
The second reason many Americans will resist this idea is the biblical prophecy regarding the Mark of the Beast. The prophecy holds that the Mark will be required in order to buy or sell. Of course, not everyone in the U.S. is Christian, but there are still a large Christian population in the U.S. and many of them believe this prophecy will be fulfilled in their lifetimes. They will resist this technology for that reason.
I'm not saying that this CBDC microchip is the Mark of the Beast. I'm not saying it isn't. I'm simply pointing out that it's a scary idea that will likely be rejected by many Americans for the aforesaid reasons.
On the other hand, as the Christian population in America declines, the public may be more susceptible to this idea. In 20 or 30 years, we could see a major shift in the U.S. cultural value system that will drive the population to accept a CBDC microchip under their skin (though I can't imagine why).
Religion aside, I think it's a terrible idea. The reason is very simple. Professor Richard Werner, an economist and professor of banking and finance, is the mastermind behind the scheme. In his own words, the CBDC microchip could be used as a "control system" rather than a currency. Here's what he says verbatim:
It’s a conditional currency based on you actually getting that permit. Now, if you happen to be some kind of critic of government policy or a critic of central banks this could be difficult. Or if you dare to step out of the 15-minute city zone, you know, maybe you’ll find that: ‘Oh [my CBDC is] not working’.
In other words, if you don't toe the line, you could be cut off from your own money.
First and foremost, a CBDC will be used as a system of control, the fourth function of money. By programming a CBDC to stop working should you "step out of line," the government and banks can force citizens to comply with all sorts of measures simply through the threat of coercion. While the law will continue to allow Americans to believe they have freedom of speech, in reality, they will not have such freedom because to exercise it in protest of government or banking policies could get one cut off from access to the banking ecosystem. This is what Rod Dreher calls "soft totalitarianism
While I have objections to any kind of microchip being planted under my skin, particularly if it is a requirement, I don't think a CBDC is necessarily a bad thing. Using it as a tracking device certainly would be, and using it to instill fear in a population to diminish their freedoms would be a colossal tragedy. The answer to soft totalitarianism is an alternate currency. It could be bitcoin or it could it be something else, but it must be peer-to-peer.
I'm not a bitcoin maxi, and I'm also not a conspiracy theorist. However, I do believe in exercising one's freedoms, and it should go without saying that you should exercise all those you don't want to lose. With that, I'll go on the record as saying CBDC microchips are a lousy idea. Thanks, but I'll pass.
