China buying up US farmland

China buying up US farmland

It is not uncommon for a developing economy to put new found wealth to work and foreign real estate. As this type, of investment tends to be out of reach from overzealous Government spenders who come for their pound of flesh. Japan did the same thing during the 1980's into the early 1990's here in the USA.

This time it feels different, here is why!  When the former Soviet Union (AKA USSR) broke apart, it broke apart along old national boundaries. I suspect when the USA breaks apart due to designed crash, I believe the goal is to sell it off part and parcel to the highest bidder to line the ruler pockets.

China has not hid their US land purchases and perhaps the wakeup moment was when the Chinese firm purchased Smithfield foods for $4.72B in May 2013. Or perhaps, you missed that the USAs and the worlds largest pork processing firm was sold to a foreign entity. Did you know that Smithfield shuttered their California meat packing plant in June of this year? Doesn't that strike you as odd? With all the talk on the news about global crop failures, shortages and farmers being paid not to grow crops? They are closing a HUGE meat processing facility?  I guess it sure beats it being burned down. oh I mean it catching fire.

Foreign Land purchases in US doubled from 2009-2019, or about 2.7% of all US Farmland.

  • Canadian at 29 percent
  • Netherlands, Italy, Germany, and the United Kingdom collectively owning another 33 percent.
  • The remaining 38 percent is held by entities from almost a hundred other countries.
  • China currently own only a small fraction of this land, at 191,652 acres (0.05 percent of the total) Which tells me Congress is really concerned about China as a threat!

The Tide is turning as more and more people awaken to China as a Global Leader:

  • AL Senators have proposed a US Bill, prohibiting China from purchasing US Land
  • Florida Gov. has put together an entire initiative to stop China (AKA CCP) from buying land near US military bases
  • - The State Gov of Texas placed Chinese firm purchase of a huge track of land on hold as it was very close to a US Military base. Yeah, could you envision huge amounts of Chinese listening systems install all over that property?

I can't wait for China to start declaring use of their CBDC must take place in order to do transactions with these farms! Who wants to bet on this one? Or does China bypass that all together and ship everything grown back to China not allowing it go be sold locally?

Have you thought about how much land in Australia is owned by China? What about EU or Africa? I can't blame China for trying to look out for its citizens. It sure beats lying to them about everything, making right, wrong and wrong, right.

  • Blog photo all rights and ownership belongs to 'The Heritage Foundation' use of image implies nothing.
  • US breakout map belongs to US Dept. of Agriculture

Summary - We should encourage direct foreign investment in the USA. However, we should strongly review how this impacts the nations ability to support itself. Everyone should be able of the limited quantity of arable land across the globe and how much is being bought up by BRICS nations.
