Nftwriter: wax - the king of nfts

NFTs are all the rage and will continue to be, and for a good reason, they immortalize content creation with ultimate accountability.

“Putting something on a blockchain is forever.” ? William Shatner

WAX stands for Worldwide Asset eXchange, the global leader in decentralized video games and entertainment.  William E. Quigley and Jonathan Yantis co-founded the company.  The WAX staff truthfully boasts that they “deliver the safest and most convenient way to create, buy, sell and trade virtual items (NFTs) - to anyone, anywhere in the world.

WAX’s inner tokenomics operate on the WAX cryptocurrency coin (WAXP), which recently spiked from 0.03c to 0.10c USD during the ongoing Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) bull-runs.  Participation in the WAX DeFi project results in rewards of WAXG (Governance Tokens) and Ethereum; for more information on how to participate, check out this article.

It is extremely easy to create a WAX account via WAX Cloud Wallet.  The onboarding process is user-intuitive and fast.  WAX is built on the EOSIO blockchain but also supports Ethereum.  This multi-platform support was one of the most attractive features to me when I was first introduced to it, known as cross-blockchain integration via the WAX Blockchain Bridge Service.  WAX is where dApps (Decentralized Applications) meet NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) for monetization.

WAX has an extremely strong following, including the famed Star Trek actor William Shatner, known best for his role as Captain Kirk.  Other supporters include the music group Deadmau5, prominent figures such as Rich Widmann of Google, Peter DeBenedicts of Microsoft, Jay Ong of Marvel, Frederic Chesnais - the CEO of Atari, along with several other distinguished figures that are on the WAX Advisory Council.  The Cryptowriter community supports WAX, including myself.

Shatner is a technology advocate and has been a blockchain supporter for some time.  He runs an ongoing television show called “The unXplained” on The History Channel that focuses on “exploring the world’s most fascinating, strange and inexplicable mysteries with compelling contributions from scientists, historians, and witnesses.”  The show is also available on Amazon Videos and Hulu.  The show is in its third season since its debut in 2019 - I’ll begin watching it after I publish this article; it looks like it is right up my alley of interests.

I was taken aback when I saw how deeply associated Shatner is with not only WAX and NFTs, but technology and blockchain in general - I had just caught a 2-hour special of Ancient Aliens in the last week (another excellent History Channel TV show with a similar theme) where all of the Ancient Aliens specialists sat and convinced him of ancient astronaut theory using only factual information.

Shatner is obviously a very forward-thinking man for his age, one who decided to immortalize his memories and career “rarities” in the form of limited-edition NFTs which sold out almost instantly.  Shatner’s NFT focus seems to be on preserving memories and the uniqueness of each life and event, an eternal legacy if you will.  It was pleasing to learn he was a fellow futurist and cryptocurrency advocate, and it never seizes to please me that a new variety of figures are supporting advancements in technology-related historical lessons; even Megan Fox making an appearance on Ancient Aliens grants an idea of how far these concepts are spreading among the masses.

Developers are far from excluded from WAX; in fact, they are welcomed with open arms and given the tools to launch a variety of different projects with relative ease compared to other platforms built on blockchain technology.  If you are looking to develop a dApp or NFT related project using WAX, this may be an excellent resource for you.  If you are interested in taking a look at the current dApps on WAX, you can view them here.

The arcade classic Street Fighter II just released a large NFT card drop via WAX which netted $2,000,000 USD without breaking a sweat in the last few days since its release on February 18th.  Many, many people are extremely excited about the potential returns and future prospects from this release.

My conclusion is that WAX is the next big thing, and I could not be more grateful to have gotten involved early on as a result of listening to intelligent members of the Cryptowriter community.  The community element of cryptocurrency and blockchain-related progress is amazing and essential.  I have a dozen NFT’s to start out with, and I think I am about to acquire more; I plan to HODL mine for the long-term.

It is uncommon that I genuinely enjoy researching a project for an article, especially on the weekend, and I have and will continue to refuse to write about a topic in a positive light if I dislike it.  However, WAX knocked the ball out of the park in terms of how impressed I am with their platform, social support, and long-term potential, it's a recipe for success.

As always, comments, suggestions, and friendly debates are highly encouraged.

Stay smart & Stay safe.
