Google cloud has been busy trying to partner with the old and the upcoming blockchain projects. They are also choosing such projects through variety of programs. Like they are already running the web3 starter program. This is where they are funding the new startups and the companies. And they make sure to keep validators, witness servers, data servers for the blockchain web3 projects.
Recently game publisher Com2US has done the partnership with the Google Cloud for hosting the XPLA validator.
XPLA is a tendermint layer 1 blockchain and is known to be hosting it's own media content and the transaction. And allowing the Google Cloud to be one of it's validator has helped the chain a lot in past. There are plenty of the dApps and the partners that would be making the game ecosystem more reliable and easy to work with. And that is going to make it easier for the industry to work upon the tendermint chain in near future with the variety of validators out there.

Basically when big companies help such project it is for their own benefit. And they make sure their interest are aligned that way. They offer few things free and then offer the nodes and the things that would build their business in the due process. Something you may notice that is being constant among the most of the open source blockchain projects.
They are also running the volunteer validator program where they may not earn anything for running the validator node. So that is one of the thing that Google Cloud has been running. Also a lot of chains have their node hosting apps and the software available through google cloud. So that would be available for developers who want to spin up the nodes through the platform in which case the Google Cloud gets new customer as they help such project.
