While mass adoption of cryptocurrencies still has a way to go, there are places where you can currently spend your cryptocurrencies without a problem. Say you are on a nice vacation this summer, cruising on the Croatian coast, and you're all out of cash, you only got crypto, but that ice cream on the shore looked delicious. Want to order some food from web shop? Or you phone died and you cant call your boys in Wienna? What you gonna do? Here are some options.
1) Largest Croatian retail chain - Konzum, accepts crypto paymens since december for online shopping, while the plan is to enable crypto payments in general in near future, currently you can buy goods on webshop with next cryptocurrencies: bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), bitcoin cash (BCH), EOS, DAI, ripple (XRP), stellar lumen (XLM), tether (USDT), USDC, Solana i BUSD (BEP20).
2) Croatian post offices offer crypto exchange services where you can exchange your cryptocurrencies for traditional fiat currency (like EUR or HRK), or, use your cryptocurrencies to buy crypto stamps. Currently accepted cryptocurrencies are: Bitcoin (BTC), XRP, Stellar, EOS, BCH, DAI, USDT and USDC. Post office also offers option to buy pieces of crypto stamps in a web shop using etherium cryptocurrency. Stamps are represented in the blockchain as a non-fungible tokens (NFT) under ERC-721 standard. Crypto stamps come in three editions. Each edition offers several different themes, five diferent means of transport were selected as a themes for the categories. The drone category is rarest as it is limited to only 1,000 copies, while the van theme is issued in the largest quantity (60,000 copies). Motifs also include train (25,000 copies), ship (10,000 copies) and airplane (4,000 copies), which, along with the two above categories, brings the total quantity to 100,000 stamps.
