In a blog post, it stated that the Visa debit card, which allows users to spend cryptocurrency directly from their COINBASE accounts, can now be linked with Google Pay.

The announcement also affirmed that users will experience a smooth, quick, and secure way to pay for services using their crypto.

Coinbase claims to be the first company to enable users to make mobile payments powered by their crypto balances.

Coinbase expanding to other European countries

The blog post stated, “From today, Coinbase Card payments using Google Pay are available to customers in the UK, Republic of Ireland. Also included are Belgium, Finland, France, Italy, Slovakia, Spain, Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden.”

It added that the company was working on expanding to other European countries later this year.

Coinbase further stated that the Google Pay integration would be available for the users even before their physical card arrives. Once a customer has requested for it, he can begin spending his crypto by linking it to Google Pay.

Notably, it is not limited to Android users. iOS users can also make use of the Coinbase Card app.

Coinbase Card quest

Based in San Francisco, Coinbase launched its new Visa debit card for the UK and European customers in April 2019.

It initially only supported payments in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Bitcoin Cash (BCH). In November, additional support for digital assets, including XRP, Basic Attention Token (BAT), and Stellar Lumens (XLM) was included. It recently announced the adoption of DAI, a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar, as well.

Last month, Coinbase received a Visa principal membership, allowing it to provide more features for its debit card.
