Alien Worlds changed how you mine NFT's

Do repost and rate:

There is a little update to Alien Worlds that has a huge impact. Previously when playing Alien Worlds you mine on a plot of land and if you earned some TLM it would show up and if you mined a new NFT then Alien Worlds would automatically mint that NFT to your wallet. It was a simple and nice system that worked pretty well.

Now they changed it so that when you mine a NFT it doesn't automatically get minted to your address. You will have to go and claim all your mined NFT's. That will then mint them all to you. There will be a area in the game where you can claim them but for now you are going to have to use a 3rd party solution. This isn't ideal and kind of janky if you ask me because it raises the bar of playing Alien Worlds yet again, but more on that later.

Lets dive into how to start claiming your NFT's now.

You will need to bookmark this page: https://wax.bloks.io/account/m.federation

You should be on a screen like this.

Step 1) Login

In the top right corner there is a login button. Click on it and login with your Wax account however you login to Alien Worlds.

Step 2) Type in your WAX name

Under the miner text there is a text box, enter your wax address name

Step 3) Click "Submit Transaction"

If you did those 2 hard steps right you will see a transaction id popup.

Step 4) Check your wallet to see if you got any NFT's.

Go to AtomicHub or Wax Cloud Wallet and see if any new NFT's popped up.

The 2 red boxes are Steps 1 and 2. The Blue boxes are nothing you should need to change but you should make sure you are on the m.federation page (which is Alien Worlds) and you should also make sure you are selecting the "claimnfts" action.

Now let's get onto the repercussions of this change. I hate it. I think this was a terrible move and for a few reasons. Alien Worlds is the largest dapp Game around sure. But because of that, it means there are many people playing that are not tech savvy or crypto savvy or are even just nervous of the crypto space but learned to trust https://play.alienworlds.io/. Now Alien Worlds is telling people in order to continue playing the game you need to access this 3rd party site.

I know some of you are going to say that it's just bloks.io and I know. It's as safe as Alien Worlds. BUT that isn't the point. That is like me wanting to play SPLINTERLANDS and in order to get my daily rewards or season rewards I have to go to a separate site and claim them and then go to a 3rd site to make sure I got them and then go back to Splinterlands and play with my new cards. It's truly asinine!

What's worse is the reason for this change. We all have experienced issues with running out of CPU or RAM when playing WAX games. And guys honestly Alien Worlds has been staking a crap ton of resources to it's CPU and RAM and NET so that we all can play it. However it hasn't been good enough. Here is what Alien Worlds had to say about it:

Being the largest blockchain game on any blockchain, ever in history, Alien Worlds uses a lot of CPU and RAM resources on the WAX blockchain. By changing the NFT game card distribution mechanism from automatically dropping NFT game cards into miners accounts to a system where Explorers claim their NFT game cards, Alien Worlds is freeing up significant resources for the rest of the WAX blockchain. For the good of the community, the Federation chose this option.

Let me rephrase that for you... 'Here at Alien Worlds it's too expensive to stake all the resources ourselves and mint all these NFT's to users when they earn them like we have been. So we are going to shift the responsibility onto the gamers themselves to remember to claim their NFT's'. And to be honest guys I wouldn't be as against this change IF Alien Worlds notifications would actually tell you when you mined a new NFT. Their Notifications used to work and tell you when you got a new card, but it stopped working like 2 months ago.

Yeah that thing. If that little button actually worked then okay fine, I would see that I got a new card and I would go claim it. But now Alien Worlds is telling the players you need to make sure you claim your own stuff. What's worse is that they are not telling anyone about this. Sure they wrote a Medium article about it, but how many of the 2,000,000+ players follow them on Medium? 3,900 people... that is how many are following Alien Worlds on Medium. So that means 1,996,100 players have no idea that they are not going to receive their NFT's automatically anymore.

That means I now have to play a new game. That game is when to claim my NFT's. Since I will have no idea if I mined any NFT's do I try to "claim" them every day or every week or every hour? This is an issue because every time you claim them (even if there are none to claim) it is a transaction on the blockchain which takes CPU resource. Which means more people are going to run into CPU issues again.

To Alien Worlds credit they stated that at some point they will add a option in-game to claim your NFT's. But that isn't enough. Look I still love Alien Worlds. I still believe in it and think it has potential. But with this change I think Alien Worlds is still digging themselves into that hole they started when they got into bed with Binance. I am not throwing in the towel yet but this seems like a half ass move to save money and shift responsibility onto players.

What is the point of being buddy buddy with freakin BINANCE if you are still hurting this bad for money? Your token (TLM) skyrocketed in price. You got the #1 blockchain game award, you made it. Now you have to do things FOR the players. I think companies forget sometimes that we the people are their customers and their lifeline. Sure you can get millions of investment but if you F over your players and they all leave then where are you then?

Respect the players and listen to them and you will go far. Try to take shortcuts and only look out for your bottom line and you will fade into the dark.

Also at time of writing at least... who would have thought that the price of TLM would be higher then WAX???!?!

Update #1:

User dlanoroiroso commented with a website  aw.naw.io that lets you login and check to see if you have unclaimed NFT's. It is stated that seeing if you have unclaimed NFT's doesn't use your CPU so check this out every once in a while to see if you need to claim any. And if you do then go ahead and claim your NFT's
