Honestly. This is a point that I think the larger crypto community should really pick up on. The nameless, faceless hacker who stole $611 million from PolyNetwork has so far given a larger refund to victims than the SEC after nabbing those evil "unregulated securities sellers."
I'd go so far as to say that hackers have given more $$$ back than government agencies. We've still got the Japanese government holding back refunds from the Mt. Gox hack from years ago, for some reason.
And you morons still want regulation.
At this point, I really can't even stomach a civil conversation with anyone who blindly says he wants traditional regulators in on this space. (Read here for a profanity laden diatribe on this point.) Like, you have no legs to stand on. The regulator emperor has no clothes. Those motherfuckers in government are acting just like a tattooed street gang — taking bribes to let civilians continue to do business.
In the meantime, the PolyNetwork hacker returned funds AND gave an AMA on how he performed the hack. That's invaluable information that should help developers in the future. Even if this guy was technically black hat, he's white hat. And so far, though governments claim they're white hats, they're so black hat. Like Janet Yellen's soul blue black.
When the US government gives some of their $100 million theft from BITMEX back to liquidated 100X leverage traders, I'll consider your points. Until then, you are a feckless, silly moron who deserves to get 90% taxed on all of your unrealized fuckin gains and have the other 10% drained to nothing when you buy those crap penguin NFTs.
