Do repost and rate:

One million  customer emails of LEDGER have been compromised. Ledger team announced that the hack actually happened on June.

Aside from the emails, some personal documents of around 9500 users have also been exposed such as phone numbers, postal addresses, names, and order details.

However, Ledger reassured its customers that their private keys have not been accessed to nor their payment methods, so the user funds are safe.

How did the hack happened?

Ledger said their marketing and e-commerce database was accessed using a third-party tool that was connected to the API key. Ledger already disabled the API key.

At the moment, France’s Data Protection Authority, the CNIL is investigating the issue and Ledger team has also partnered with the Orange Cyberdefense (OCD) to check for any evidence that the personal data of the customers are being sold online.

Trezor to the Rescue

Trezor is another hardware cryptocurrency wallet that competes with Ledger.

As a reward for buyers, they offer a 10% discount with coupon code DATAPRIVACY.

Honestly, it cracks me up that I have to insert emojis. ????

That’s how you do sales marketing.

Trezor team also said that they delete their customers’ order data every 90 days.

Pellevoizin,  Ledger VP marketing, was interviewed by Matthew Aaron of The Decrypt Daily about the plans that Ledger will take regarding the hack.

“Ledger is taking steps towards meeting the requirements for an ISO 27001 certification,” he said. “An international framework for managing information security management systems. This security certification, and the security robustness that it purports to uphold is key to protecting data from breaches like this one.”

Furthermore, Ledger clarified that no compensation will be provided to the affected customers.
