The cryptocurrency exchange Hotbit was the victim of a hacker attack on 29.04 (yesterday at the time of publication). According to the official statement, however, no coins were stolen. The exchange is now in maintenance mode and investigating the situation.
As far as is currently known, the hacker(s) tried to gain control over the wallet, but according to Hotbit this did not work and they deleted the user database. A compromise of the user data can therefore not be ruled out! Users who are registered on Hotbit must beware of pishing attempts which often follow such hacks (see Ledger).
The exchange gives a time frame of 7-14 days in which they want to resume operations.
