The French court is kind to hackers, if a decision is given in good faith to release hackers, it will only encourage hacking.

What Was Platypus Attack?

Platypus Finance (USP) is an Automated Market Maker (AMM) protocol on the Avalanche Network. Platypus was hit by a sudden debt attack in February this year, causing a loss of $8.5 million to the project. The value of Platypus' stablecoin, $USP, also depegged and fell below 50 cents.

Who Were The Hackers?

Platypus started the detection; efficient tracker ZachXBT tracked the hacking; and crypto exchange BINANCE identified the hackers. It was found that the Mohammed brothers, French nationals, were behind the Platypus hacking. With the cooperation of French law enforcement agencies, the Mohammed brothers were caught and criminally prosecuted.

French Court Decision

The defendants in the French court were successful in convincing the judge that the Platypus project was easily exploitable and that the Mohammed brothers intended to hack the project, return the funds, and receive 10% back as reward. Calling it a civil matter, the court acquitted hackers of the criminal case.
