Vigilance is essential - A new scam is rampant in the world of cryptocurrencies. It is this time, it is the identity of Joe Rogan, used without his knowledge, which has made it possible to take advantage of an unsophisticated public.
Joe Rogan, crook in spite of himself
The warning came, as so often, from the Twitter account of “Whale Alert”, reporting a new scam now well known to the community.
Using YouTube and the identity of Joe Rogan, host of the most popular podcast in the United States, the perpetrators used an old video to relay the following message:
“Joe Rogan and Ben Shapiro think that Blockchain and Bitcoin will make this world a fairer place. In order to speed up the adoption of cryptocurrencies, we decided to distribute 5000 bitcoins. ”
To be eligible for this “distribution”, victims had to send “0.1 BTC to 10 BTC” to the annotated address. In exchange, “double the amount”, or a sum between 0.2 BTC and 20 BTC, would be warmly paid to them.
The duplicity of some makes others happy, and the unfortunate have never seen the shadow of a bitcoin again.
An already well-known scam
The author of this deception still has something to celebrate. He has indeed managed to collect the equivalent of $ 30,944 since the launch of this video. However, the scale of the deception is nothing compared to that which took place in June 2020.

Relying on a live stream by Elon Musk broadcast on YouTube, the mobsters had relayed the same magic formula. Under the condition of sending Bitcoin, this was accompanied by a tenfold promise of gain. The scam had then allowed, in the space of 2 months, to accumulate the sum of $ 2 million.
Monetary sovereignty has a price, and we are witnessing the downside of an environment that is still poorly regulated. The absence of guardianship promises to punish all negligence.
