Cryptojacking And Security ...

Hello to my friends who love life and keep smiling despite all kinds of negativity. In this article, we will tell you that cryptocurrency theft is increasing with the development of cryptocurrency markets. I will talk about "Cryptojacking" which is used most often and unwittingly use you on the computer you use.

Let's start …

Cryptojacking, is a type of cyber attack in which a hacker uses the computing power of a target to illegally mine cryptocurrency without permission. Cryptojacking can target individual consumers, large institutions, and even industrial control systems.

Cryptojacking, has become an increasingly popular way for fraudsters and criminals to obtain money from their targets in the form of cryptocurrencies. Hackers encrypt victims' files and demand various cryptocurrency ransomware, mainly Bitcoin, to decrypt them.

How hackers do this;

The first, is to trick victims into installing crypto mining code on their computers. This is done through phishing-like tactics: Victims receive a legitimate-looking email encouraging them to click a link. The link runs the code that puts the crypto mining script on the computer. The script then runs in the background while the victim is running.

The second, is to inject a script or an ad sent to multiple websites into a website. The script runs automatically when victims visit the website or open in infected ad scanners. No code is stored on victims' computers. Whichever method is used, the code runs complex math problems on victims' computers and sends the results to a hacker-controlled server.

In January 2018, researchers discovered the Smominru crypto mining botnet, which infects more than half a million machines, mostly in Russia, India and Taiwan. The botnet targeted Windows servers for Monero mining, and cybersecurity firm Proofpoint estimated it had generated a value of $ 3.6 million as of the end of January.

Hackers prefer anonymous cryptocurrencies like Monero and Zcash. Because it is more difficult to trace illegal activity back to them.

How to prevent cryptojacking ?

Install an ad-blocking or crypto-mining extension on web browsers. Since cryptojacking scripts are often served via web ads, installing an ad blocker can be an effective way to stop them. Some ad blockers such as Ad Blocker Plus, MinerBlock are capable of detecting crypto mining scripts.
