3 cryptocurrencies I LOST the most money on

When it comes to crypto, people use the expression 'to lose' a bit too freely for my liking.

You only lose when you sell, so to say that El Salvador or Michael Saylor 'lost' money on Bitcoin is inaccurate.

That's why, when it comes to this list, I'm only gonna mention cryptos on which I've LOST money. As in, the sale is final, and the loss is crystalised.

Luna is the cryptocurrency I lost the most money on percentage-wise.

And that's a sad record I truly hope I'm never gonna beat, because Luna lost nearly 100 percent of its value.

I'd purchased $100 worth of LUNA to stake on Binance, and had accrued $6 in staking rewards when the project collapsed.

I managed to recover some of that with the airdrop that BINANCE supported, and I earned a bit of yield by staking the airdrop.

Then, maybe three months ago, I gave up, realised it was pointless, and sold everything.

With the airdrop and everything else accounted for, I lost $90 on Luna.

As some of you may know, gives you a better interest depending on the amount of NEXO tokens you own.

In order to get the highest available you need to make sure 10 percent of your Nexo holdings are NEXO.

I kept that going for a couple of years, and then realised it really wasn't worth it, which is why I liquidated all of my NEXO.

I bought hundreds of dollars worth of NEXO but lost a significant amount when I sold because the value had gone down a lot.

However, the loss on this one is relatively small in absolute terms for two reasons.

First, you cannot use NEXO to repay your debit card spending, but you can use it to pay for interest, which I did.

And you can convert rewards to any crypto.

With that taken into consideration, I 'only' lost probably around $120 in total despite selling a relatively high amount of NEXO at a loss.

At number 3, we've got Cronos (CRO), which is crypto.com's native token.

Technically a coin now, since they've apparently developed a blockchain for it.

I bought CRO at various points, several times between October and November 2021, back when the price hovered around the region of $0.20, and then again during the boom in December 2021, when the price dropped to $0.50 after the ATH of $0.81.

Shortly thereafter, two things happened. First, I realised it wasn't a good buy.

Second, I needed cash for unforeseen expenses and decided CRO was the one crypto I was willing to sacrifice at a loss to get some cash.

Right after the FTX drama, in late 2022, I sold the remaining CRO I had, even though the price had dropped to less than $0.10 for the first time in over a year, because it became clear, to me at least, that CEX-related or CEX-issued tokens are too toxic.

All in all I lost around $150.
