2022 is drawing to a close

2022 is drawing to a close. Each time in December, it seems that Reddit will come up with a personalised report that tells every user about his involvement in this social media platform for the past year. I say, it’s a great way to reflect upon the highs and lows of 2022.

Here are some highlights of Reddit Recap that thrilled me to bits:

I ought to be embarrassed about how I am spending way too much time on Reddit, but we all have a competitive streak. Knowing that I’m in the top 1% of karma earners (karma is gained when someone upvotes your post or comment, much like the Facebook “Like”) did give me a cheap thrill and fortified my resolve to maintain this ranking next year. Yup, I’m a shallow creature.

This curated report also listed down my top post as well as most well-received comment of the year. Seeing these two contributions brought back some fond memories.

I also loved how the Recap ended with a bang by gifting me a trading card that summarised all my major statistics derived from using Reddit: the top 3 subreddits I frequented, the total number of karma I garnered and my level. Apparently, I’m still a noob in the grand scheme of things, so that’s why I could only get the “Epic” card. It seemed that I would need to score at least 10,000 comment karma to qualify for a “Legendary” trading card, so you can bet where my energies would be placed next year.

Anyway, relating this back to Publish0x, I don’t know whether it would be too far-fetched a request, but churning out a customised report would satisfy many of us loyal PUBLISH0X users. Of course, we shouldn’t have the format of Publish0x’s report to be identical of that of Reddit Recap. We wouldn’t be to be accused of plagiarism. Here are some statistics that I thought would be awesome to include in Publish0x’s report:

- Number of followers in November compared to January

- Top-grossing month

- Greatest number of views

- Greatest number of likes and dislikes

- Greatest number of tips

(It would be cool to see if the post with the most views corresponds with the one with the most tips.)

In any case, I think having such reports would go someway towards honing the writing skills of the users. I mean, at least I know now that I didn’t sound half bad when I wrote about Bitcoin. Heh.

Happy holiday season! And may your Publish0x readership grow from strength to s
