In this series of posts about NFTs I’m attempting to provide you all the information you need to enter the wonderful world of NFTs.

CHAPTER 8!
KOGS.
While I was preparing to write this post about the NFT powerhouse that is KOGs I stumble at some fascinating information about the origin of KOGs.
You see KOGs is the NFT version of the popular 1990s game POGS which it self has its origin from the milk cup game that was played in Hawaii in the 1920s or 1930s which most probably came to the islands from Japan.
In Japan the local version of the game is know as Menko which can be traced all the way back to the Edo period, when it was know as Men’uchi.
So we are looking at the digital version of a game that is about 400 years old!
Isn’t that fascinating….???
But enough with history, let us have a look at KOGs…
The name KOGs means Keys to Other Games and as the name suggests KOGs are collectible, playable and tradable NFTs.
KOGs act as in-game currency, they unlock tournaments and skins, and provide VIP access to special events and virtual metaverses!
And there is where the uniqueness of KOGs is to be found!
You see most of the NFTs are kind like a nice painting…you can only get pleasure from admiring them, while KOGs not only have an amazing artwork but at the same time are useable as they are the key element of various games!
So with KOGs you can of course simply collect them, use them in casual games or even take it up a notch and partake in online winner-take-all PvP matches.
RFOX Games is developing the first game and they are about to start sending out the invitations to the first group of testers.
That is inline with their time schedule, meaning that the game will be revealed as per their roadmap in March 2021!
And the game will be the world’s first native mobile app to calculate 100% of its game logic on a blockchain!
It is there for no surprise that KOGs not only became the WAX Blockchain’s best-selling NFT after only 4 weeks, but also brought a huge profit to the day one collectors that bought those first packs.
Those lucky collectors have seen the price of their packs rise by 10x at least!
And the prices are keep rising….
You can find both the first edition and second edition packs and KOGs in the several secondary marketplaces KOGs are trading in, such as kogs.atomichub.io.

The KOGs team has recently introduced KOGGU.
KOGGU is the first KOGs in the Ethereum network!
KOGGU uses the ERC1155 standard, a standard so new that you can’t yet see KOGGU NFTs in MetaMask.
However, OpenSea’s new collection manager lets you see KOGGU from every angle.
KOGGU is embedded in OPENSEA as a complete 3D model, allowing you to spin and zoom in at will.
And although it resides on a different chain, KOGGU is an official KOG and it will have a role within the same gaming ecosystem using the WAX-based KOGs.
There is indeed a very strong KOGs community, especially at Discord, that together with the KOGs team host many events where various prizes can be won and certainly you can have lots of fun!
Most notably is the weekly trivia night! An event you should at least take part once! So make sure to join their channel!
