WISE is a staking platform. This means that the main purpose of the smart contract is to generate interest. Interest can be generated by locking away WISE tokens. But how is the system structured?
WISE Token Staking — The basic function
When you start staking, you determine the number of WISE tokens you want to stake and the duration of the staking. As soon as you have confirmed your entries, your WISE tokens will be burned, and you will receive so-called shares. The interest is generated daily and increases your share price. As soon as your stake ends or is closed by you, your shares are destroyed, and you get your stake + interest back paid in WISE tokens.
How to stake WISE Token step by step
- After you have purchased your Wise Tokens on Uniswap (or another exchange), use a referral link to get to the WISE Token website. By using the link http://istakewise.net you will get a 10% bonus for your stake. When the web page opens, click on “Staking Dashboard” in the upper right corner.

2. Connect your Metamask Wallet with WISE Token now.
3. Your wallet is now connected to WISE Token. Click in the left tab on “Staking System”. 
4. Choose a staking variant (more about regular and insurance stake below) and press the button “Create regular stake” or “Create insurance stake” (available from 01/13).
5. A new window will open in which you can enter the necessary information for your stake.

On the right side, you will see your shares (Interest-Earning Power). It depends on the amount, duration, and the use of a referral link, like istakewise.net. The referral bonus will be automatically credited to you if you came to the website with a ref link.
6. Finally, confirm the transaction with your Metamask wallet. From now on, you will no longer see the WISE tokens in your wallet. For the time of your staking, the Wise Tokens are burned. But in the dashboard under “Staking System” you will be able to see your stakes. As soon as the staking ended your WISE Tokens will be minted again.

Are there penalties for ending a stake early?
There are no penalties for a mature stake! You have held out until then, and you will not be punished just because you do not have your investment immediately.
However, if you close your stack before the end of the specified duration, there will be a penalty. The amount of the penalty depends on which stake variant you choose.
Regular Stake
The amount of the penalty depends on the remaining term of the stake. The penalty ranges from 90% to 10%. So, if you close the stake a few days before the actual end, you will be deducted 10% of your invested capital. However, if you terminate your stake after a few days or weeks, you will lose 90% of your capital. The interest on a regular stake is not affected by the penalty and is paid out in full. Insurance Stake (available from 01/13/2021)
If you choose the Insurance stake, you can terminate your stake at any time and get back 90% of your capital. This limits your penalty to 10% and interest. Unlike the Regular Stake, you lose the interest if you terminate your stake prematurely.
If you keep your stake until the end, you will get back 100% of your capital and the interest. However, the interest is calculated only on 90% of your capital. The maximum stake duration for an insurance stake is 3 years.
How much interest can I earn with staking WISE Token?
You cannot compare the interest you get in the bank with the complex system behind WISE. The amount of interest depends on various factors. In principle, an inflation rate of 4% is included in the contract (in this case, inflation is a good thing. It goes directly to the person who stakes). 3% of inflation goes to the stakers and 1% goes to the referrers. The stakers compete with each other. The more people stake, the lower the share for everyone. This does not sound particularly good at first. But the more people stake, the more tokens are burned, the less offer, the higher the price for WISE!
WISE will achieve an interest rate of about 10–30% per year. How is this possible?
This is related to the shares. Put simply, shares are your interest-earning power. The earning power of your shares is determined by various factors. The longer the staking period and the more WISE you stake, the higher your share price and thus, the interest at the end of the staking. It is important to know that the share price will continue to rise over time. The earlier you start staking, the more interest you will generate. At the same time, the stakers will receive the penalties of other stakers who have ended their staking prematurely. For these reasons, you can expect interest of between 10–30%.
Staking strategies for WISE Token
The interest is paid daily. Of course, you can dispose of the interest without this having an impact on your stake principal, but it reduces your shares and therefore your earning power. A possible and recommended staking strategy is ladder staking. In this case, you split your WISE token and stack them over different periods. You make this division exactly according to your ideas. Therefore, you can always withdraw interest after these periods without destroying your share price of the entire staked WISE.
