Why you should play Splinterlands (with rented cards)

Hey folks, during these times of rather bearish markets it may be a good idea to look for some opportunities to get some crypto without big investments.

After I read this article by Polessins. I thought I should try SPLINTERLANDS with some rented cards and it turned out that this is pretty awesome!

I checked out Splinterlands a few weeks ago and thought it was F2P but then realised that I have to buy the Spellbook to earn rewards. This turned me off for the moment but after markets crashed I thought it might be a good time to try my luck and (hopefully) earn some valuable NFTs.

Starting in Bronze League the rewards were pretty low and at some point it started to get tricky to climb the ladder. But then I read the before mentioned article and was like: I have to try renting cards.

Peakmonsters

To rent cards you have to register at peakmonsters with your Hive ID. On the Splinterlands website you can easily get your Hive keys. Your ingame name is also your wallet address on the Hive chain. With these information you can easily connect your Splinterlands account with peakmonsters. Once you did so a third category appears in the market: card renting. I really love this feature! You can rent cards for a daily fee from other players and many of them cost just a few cent per day (or even less).

To rent cards you need for example some Hive in your peakmonsters wallet. I purchased some at Binance and transferred it for a damn low fee of 0.01 Hive. Then I rented my first cards basically following Polessins advices.

I spent about 5$ to rent ~25 cards for a month. Within seconds I was able to access the cards in Splinterlands (but be aware of renting cards which you can access instantly - they have a blue rent button).

Climbing the leagues

I was astonished by my results afterwards. During a few days I climbed from Bronze to Gold 1. I was pretty lucky to draw a foil Evangelist which is worth about 15$ and I’m excited what will surprise me in my 30 rewards chests from this season tomorrow (or even more if I manage to get Diamond).

Beneath renting cards you would like to play you probably also have to rent some cards just to get enough power to unlock the upper leagues. Polessins has a nice table in his article on Splinterlands which explains how much power which cards give you - you should definitely check it out!

Conclusions

All in all I really love the gameplay of Splinterlands (yeah a NFT game with real gameplay - not like Alien Worlds, Upland, ...) and the opportunity to rent cards.

Even with a bunch of good cards the game is not pay-to-win and the always changing rules make it a pleasure to master all the different scenarios you gonna face.

If you haven’t registered yet you can get a a free card using this link. If you are lucky it could be worth some hundred bucks!!

Have fun playing guys and as always thank you for reading, liking and tipping!
