WenWallet Rollout!

Today and really the last week has been a rough time for the crypto market. Government actions, inflation numbers, and most importantly the Federal Reserves' recent comments have rattled really every market out there including the stock market. Bright spots can be found though as long as you know where to look and that would be what I want to highlight today! 

The first 1,000 people on the waitlist for Robinhood wallets were granted access yesterday! These first 1,000 users serve as the Beta test group for the newest addition to Robinhood's slate of offerings. Robinhood's rollout is being done in a way that some people might not love since it is going to be slow but it is being done to ensure everyone's funds and portfolios (stock holding included) stay safe! Now, these individuals who were at the top of the list did have to pass certain checks so that they would be considered a good tester like owning an external wallet. By March they plan on having expanded the rollout 10 FOLD to 10,000 people before rolling it out to the rest of the WenWallet crowd! 

These initial testers cannot empty their accounts and run through as they are expected to provide feedback about the experience and the sending and receiving crypto. Robinhood has announced they will be adding several things to the wallets by the time of the public rollout that will really really help out users including wallets accessible by QR code, block explorer support, and improving the transaction history interface. By highlighting the improvements and the security that they are going to maintain Robinhood is really starting to figure out this crypto space it seems.

Long-term this news is fantastic to see. At the beginning of the year, Robinhood stated that by mid-January they would be rolling out the Beta testing and that is something that they have now done. Their position of helping onboard people now to the blockchain is huge! While they only offer a few coins as of now I would expect to hear them add additional cryptos once the rollout is complete! They will have to be careful in what tokens they chose since as it stands now users have 7 wallets and understanding what token goes on what chain so that it is sent to the right place and not lost will be important for Robinhood to navigate. If they are able to pull this off though they will again launch themselves ahead of many other brokerage firms with their offerings!
