Watching Benjamin Cowen the Influential Crypto YouTuber

I was feeling kinda proud of myself yesterday. I have been hearing many good things about Benjamin Cowen’s YouTube channel. My buddy on the Discord channel I frequent swears by Benjamin Cowen - so much so that he subscribes to his premium version. Apparently, Benjamin Cowen is not making a living off YouTube’s rewards program, so this gotta lend some credibility to how objective and rigorous his analyses are.

I wanted to make my work life more memorable for myself, so I went to listen to one of his videos while I was doing low-effort mundane work. Just based on the title “The Crypto Bowl Understand the Risks”, I was sold already. I mean, not many YouTubers have the wit to make use of the hype associated with the Super Bowl to draw attention to what they have to say. Benjamin Cowen evoked an emotional connection with his viewers quite shrewdly.

The video was easy to listen to. His pacing was measured and his voice soothing. This was important for me because as a parent with a young kid, I could not squeeze the time to view YouTube videos. Or even if I did have the time, I would rather spend it on frivolous Netflix shows. So the fact that I could multitask with Benjamin Cowen was a huge plus point.

Honesy, the points he put across were nothing revolutionary, but I thought that they were certainly useful for newcomers to crypto. He stressed about how BTC and ETH are the blue chips. Hence, we ought to dabble with altcoins with the full awareness that historical data has shown that most of the top coins in 2015 and 2017 have fallen into oblivion. Sound advice for people who are suffering from a major case of FOMO-ing because they read about how others make millions from Dogecoin and Shiba Inu.

He also made an astute comparison between the stocks and crypto markets and said that while lump sum investing is reportedly to reap more profits for the investor than dollar cost averaging, he wouldn’t be encouraging us to do lump sum investing for the fast-paced, volatile crypto market. Again, sound advice.

My mate said that he’s using the risk metrics provided by Benjamin Cowen to do dollar cost averaging strategically, so I hope to find a video that explains these risk metrics. Wish me luck!
