The Worst Thing About Bitcoin

Do repost and rate:

Bitcoin is a financial asset that truly has the potential to change the world. Those who are investing in it currently likely will be able to change their lives financially forever; witnessing the largest transfer of wealth that the world has ever seen. There are endless things to like about Bitcoin. It is incredibly decentralized, secure, solved the Byzantine general’s problem, is the hardest form of money on earth, extremely portable, and trustless. Giving the power back to users not only protecting their wealth from being inflated away but also gives them the power to transact with whoever they want, whenever they want. Never needing the permission or approval of a third-party service again. It is even unconfiscatable if self-custody is taken properly.

Bitcoin has a lot of things going in its favor, but that doesn’t mean it is without faults as well. In fact, there is one thing in particular that I hate above all things in this market.

Simply put, I am against toxic Bitcoin maximalists in this market, who treat others badly for not living up to the “pure Bitcoiner standard.”

Before I dig into this topic further, let me first tell you this. I have been in the cryptocurrency market for several years, and I have always been the most passionate about Bitcoin. When it comes to the cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin is the name of the game. In my opinion, the only thing that matters is that you should be trying to accumulate as much of it as possible. Nearly all other cryptocurrencies are junk without real value, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t valid projects out there. In fact, I own a few of those other projects.

In the past, for Bitcoin to survive and reach the point it has, it needed people with strong beliefs like Bitcoin maxis. There was a time when Bitcoin even gaining value was a long shot. And then there were the fears that it would be considered a criminal offense to even own it. After that, came dark days when many other typical markets would have crumbled. Days such as Silk Road being taken down, Mt. Gox being hacked, and several others. Time after time, bear market after bear market, Bitcoin stood up and became stronger.

During the blocksize war, Bitcoin’s most debated time in history, it was the strong defenders of Bitcoin that were able to protect it from being hijacked and changing into something else. But since then these “defenders” of Bitcoin, that stood up when everything was trying to attack Bitcoin and helped it survive have had very little to do. They have shifted their attention towards purity, and that Bitcoin is something near holy. If you are in the Bitcoin group and don’t live up perfectly to the “code,” you will quickly be exiled never to be heard from again.

But the worst part is how they treat others who have interests in crypto that are solely on Bitcoin. As if they are committing a cardinal sin. These Bitcoin maxis will often treat them rudely, and become the worst kind of internet bully. This type of behavior even extends out to people who aren’t fans of Bitcoin are know very little about it. You will often hear them say “Have Fun Staying Poor,” or “Shit-coiner.”

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with having a strong conviction in Bitcoin. After all, that describes me perfectly. However, the Bitcoin market is a place that should be very patient, kind, and understanding. Many of us are wanting the same thing. First, we want to see Bitcoin adoption continue to increase, and we also want to see the price go up. However, this toxic behavior in some cases is doing the exact opposite. Instead, it is often scaring people away from Bitcoin, and they may never come back. After all, have you ever had anyone become angry or toxic toward you for investing in Tesla or Apple stock? Have they ever been rude for you for buying real estate? The answer is no, this is something that exists only in the Bitcoin market.

To summarize, the worst part about Bitcoin is how we are treating each other. We need to be able to have conversations and listen to each other’s perspectives calmly, without being rude. After all, there was a time when each and every one of us wasn’t in Bitcoin. At that time we either were oblivious to it or maybe even thought it was some sort of fake internet money. Just like when you complain to a customer service agent in a store, they are much more willing and likely to help you when you treat them with kindness and patience.

How about you? What do you dislike about Bitcoin?
