[splinterlands] cards that win: how i started my alt account (budget $125)

One of the things that I love about Splinterlands is that it has no unnecessary rules around ones ability to have multiple accounts, use bots, or otherwise play in nontraditional way. Ever trying to optimize my Splinterlands play I've decided I think it's worth the time and energy to create a alternate account to be played by me and owned by my LLC. I wanted to write an article about how I created this account and some specific cards I bought as I think that could be very helpful to newer players.

On my primary account I have a large but scattered collection, am blessed to be with a major guild, and I finish seasons In Diamond 2 or 3. This has me getting roughly 8 chests a day and 50-60 a season. While Id like to pour some USD into Quest Portions the time has not yet felt right, we'll get there. Over the past week or two I've been able to set aside a good amount of DEC I'd been saving for a 20 pack of Dice but, as this project sounded like more fun, I diverted that to this alt account and head over to MonsterMarket to start building.

I'd originally not liked the idea of donating cards from my personal account to my buisness account but, after reviewing my collection, there was one that felt right. Without going into specifics Compound Fund is an umbrella LLC that covered a lot of the projects that I work on I started earlier this year focusing on the intersections between traditional investing, cryptocurrency, and a few collectibles markets I've been studying for years. The goal of Compound Fund is to help provide order to my various structure and a structure to complete longer term projects, stay organized generally, and keep my taxes done correctly.

So, to help this projects collection get started on the right foot I donated one of my favorite cards I own and something worth a pretty penny: A Goldfoil Daria

Daria is one of my absolute favorite cards and hile I use her in some build in my personal account I have a non-goldfoil copy at level 5. With the price movements I'm not going to be able to buy more Goldfoil Darias anytime soon. This means that it can sit in my collecting gathering dust (and SPS), get rented, or ... get played constantly on this new account. It's a no brainer so that's how and why I gifted away a $575 card (that will be >$1000 imminently).

To build out the rest of the account I sent over just over 28,000 DEC (Just over $100) and started pricing all my favorite card.

You can find what I built here!

Lets take a look at specific areas of focus.

Death Splinter.

Death is my favorite Splinter is I knew I'd be using it to some degree. The simplicity of playing at a low level is honestly refreshing. For the time being I can keep my monsters around level 1 to save money and get exposure to as many options as I can. One of the things I DON'T like about Death is that Haunted Spirit is damn near required to play and thay have gotten pricey.

This small Death collection was relatively cheap and gave me exposure to a lot of good cards.

Water Splinter.

I'm really proud of this. Here we have nearly all the Water Splinter staples that I love and use often. I'm a huge proponent if using Goldfoil cards to get the extra +10% DEC on wins and I was unexpectedly able to snag an Alpha Spineback Turtle for really cheap. As I think thats the most important Water card to own at this level that was huge. The rest, as they say is history.

Take a look here to see it in action.

Earth Splinter

For this account I decided to focus on Splinter and bought a lot more cards here than I did in any other area. Golem, Mustang, and Queen fill the Tank role amazingly and Earth has some of the best support cards in the game. One of the first cards I priced and consider a super staple is Wood Nymph. A diverse variety of other quality creatures really round out the collection in this area.

Here are some examples of some of my favorite load-outs and what I've named them:

Queen Bee Staples

Big Green

Tough Nut

Tough Wall-Nut

Life Splinter

Life is my dump Splinter on my main account so, if Im being honest, I can't really say I'm confident with all these picks. A lot of the cards I know are Life staples arn't that good at this level. There were thankfully a variety of good cards to fills these roles nearly as well for fairly cheap. I'll have to let you know how this one goes though.

Fire Splinter

Ditto except I play a bit more Fire than I do Life. I love all these cards and, once I understand how to play Fire better, I'll have more to say about that.

Other

Everything here just plays it's role way to well to not own. Not much to say here. I look forward to being able to play some better Dragon Splinter games when my Daria become useable in Ranked Games in 6 days. I'm cruising through Bronze League at the moment and looking forward to seeing where this adventure takes me.

I'm going to be doing ONE GIVEAWAY A WEEK moving forward and to be entered in each you'll need to follow me so, f you are looking for a chance at free Splinterlands cards, make sure to hit me with a follow!
