I was always looking out for a project where i can participate and in other words provide the network with computing power. One exiting project in the Crypto Market is for me PRESEARCH. Yes you can say, wait there is goggle. But have you seen what the BRAVE browser is dooing ? But anyway. This post is focusing on how to set up your own node and how easy it was for me to do that.
What is PRESEARCH (PRE) ?
In simple words Presearch is a decentralized Search Engine. Where everyone can participate and earn Token via searching or when your node is participating to the network. This is the quote from https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/presearch

Setting up your own node
Setting up your own node is very easy. I would recommend that you use AWS - Amazon WebServices, because they are offering a free server. Which is enough to run your node on it. A good and perfect guide is the Presearch Documentation. Running a node on AWS https://docs.presearch.org/nodes/vps-setup/aws . SO first you setup your own node on AWS. And then you implement the commands as explained.
To keep it short an simple you will need
- Create your AWS Account
- Create the Keypair and Start the VM
- Login with your keypair to the Server (you can use putty or something else)
- Follow the Commands as documented in the link https://docs.presearch.org/nodes/vps-setup/aws
- Thats it - in theory :-)
And here is my history:
First of all the video was perfect. It shows you the account creation and you can immediately start your VM. But do not forget AWS needs a credit card and they will charge you 1$ for security reasons. IF you use the free tier. In short you are allowed to run 1 VM for a year without any costs. But please read more about the AWS free tier here.
After the creation of my own AWS and starting up the VM i was ready. But i was unable to login. This was of course, because i have not used the rigth username. If you use AWS you have to connect with your keypair to the server using the name "ubuntu"
After this you can easily use the commands with copy and paste. Here is the documentation i used:
First of all you need Docker :
curl -fsSL https://get.docker.com -o get-docker.sh
Then i did a check if the shell script was in the folder. And yes it was. So execute the Shell scipt as sudo with
sudo sh get-docker.sh
After this you have to tell docker pull the PRESEARCH container and to enable the auto updater to always get the newest version of Presearch. This necessary to participate in the network. Please put this as a one liner
sudo docker run -d --name presearch-auto-updater --restart=unless-stopped -v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock containrrr/watchtower --interval 300 presearch-node
and to pull the docker container
sudo docker pull presearch/node
Now run the node, and please use your Registration Code here.
sudo docker run -dt --name presearch-node --restart=unless-stopped -v presearch-node-storage:/app/node -e REGISTRATION_CODE=YourRegistrationCodeHere presearch/node
until finished please check if you see the Presearch Logo
sudo docker logs -f presearch-node
If this is the case, congratulation you are part of the PRESEARCH community.
How to earn:
There is only one requirement left if you want to earn PRE Tokens. You need at least, at the moment, 1000 PRE Token. Which you can stake in your own node. The price of the Token is at the moment 20.04.2021 around 0.08$. Which means you need at the moment around 80$.
My earning history:
There is a detailed calculation rule about earnings. But you earn in 3 ways. Running a node per hours, earning via searches and of course your amount of STAKED tokens is a factor. As you can see this is my earning after a few days.
Staked Token history
As you can see i have 1768 Token staked at the moment. And i have a balance of 8.5 unclaimed. In sum i earned in 5 days about 10 PRE Tokens. As you can also see in my installation guide i used version 0.9.0 and in the meanwhile my docker container updated automatically. Which was and is a perfect thing.
My thoughts:
