During this pandemic, Chromebook shipments increased at a much faster rate than the wider PC market with many schools holding Chromebook pickup events and some parents buying children their own Chromebook. Chromebooks are flagship laptops by Google that run Google's Chrome OS as well as Linux on specific devices. Chromebooks are doing well in the educational industry, especially since they are cheaper than Windows PCs as well as Apple MacBooks and have similar interfaces with the dual ChromeOS/Linux laptop interface. In the third quarter, sales for Chromebook with remote schooling went up 90% in shipments, compared to 15% growth for all PCs. Chromebooks even accounted for 11% of all laptop shipments.
