WOW, its cool to wake up and find several Quantum Computing Updates in one news cycle. Things are coming together quickly as 2021 wraps up
China gets into Quantum Computing and is already 1million times better than Google's
The supercomputer, called Jiuzhang 2 with which is a 66-qubit programmable where Google's came in at 55-qubits. Recall that all of China's efforts are state backed (I.E. Gov funds these efforts to show the world how important China is to the rest of the world).
China has achieved quantum supremacy using a photonic quantum computer.Jiuzhang performed computation process called Gaussian boson sampling", which has been shown to be intractable for classical computers or would take too long to process properly. This feat was accomplished in 200 seconds (aka 3.33 minutes) while the worlds current HPC computer would take 600 million years to complete; OUCH. Talk about a beating
Crytpos and the Quantum Computing Problem - Everyone here agrees that Crypto's fix the broken money issue however, quantum computing threatens the very math at the heart of Crypto offerings. Put in another manner, hidden from traditional computers however, putting the Public Key Infrastructure at risk not just for Crypto's but for VPN's, Firewalls, Tunnels etc. That is not expected to happen for several more years at this point, however, EVERYONE should be paying attention to advancements in quantum computing for this reason
IBM achieves quantum computing breakthrough IBM's new quantum computer processed info so complex the work can't be done or simulated on a traditional computer. Reread that sentence again, then ask yourself how do you know its really performed the work then? IBM's new Eagle processor can handle 127 qubits, a measure of quantum computing power topping its previous best a 100 qubit processor.
- EVERYONE should be paying attention to advancements in quantum computing the advancements it will bring to all industries not just Pharma, Cancer research but the advancements in tech will break our security systems we know today. The cool thing is that security built around quantum computing will bring new opportunities too
