Investing.com -- The NASDAQ Composite index hit a new intraday record high on Friday after figures showing the U.S. economy created more jobs than expected in October. The index gapped 0.6% higher at opening to as much as 8,342.30, after nonfarm payrolls were reported to have risen by 128,000 last month, while September's payroll growth was revised upwards by 44,000 to 180,000.
The index has been well supported this week by better-than-expected earnings from heavyweight stocks such as Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL).
The previous intraday record was set in July. It closed at 8,330.21 that day.
