I think both Upland & the most beautiful city in the world need no introduction anymore, but just in case here we go for those who have lived indoor cut from the outside world for a veeeeeery long time. (Actually most of us, right?)
UPLAND METAVERSE
This game needs no introduction now, even though it is just starting is journey as THE blockchain game of the century. Plus it features an awesome lama as the main character. What else do we need really ?
So, Upland is a really cool game where you can buy & sell virtual properties that are just real cities in real life. Yes, you heard it well, no pure fiction where you just live in a fantasy world, but a place where you can be the owner of your life when you are just the renter in the real one !
It is kind of a virtual Monopoly with its own currency, UPX Tokens. There is an entire economy built on top of the system, where it has its own rules and responds to the supply and demand of the real estate market. That being said, you can make money earning a return on your properties, collecting fees from visitors & of course selling your properties to other users. It all depends on your (good or bad) choices !
For now, the game is still US based - notably SF, NY, Fresno (great place to start by the way for beginners as the properties are way more accessible). But I hope it will change in the future with Upland coming to the most beautiful city in the world, namely Paris.
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CITY IN THE WORLD, PARIS
This has been the capitale of France for centuries, have known civil wars, has been the center of attraction for innovation & cultural ideas for so many years & is just plainly beautiful.
It is by essence the city of lovers. And for those who have been there, I guess they have been able to feel it right away at arrival. This place is the best place to walk in a romantic fashion, share romantic dinners & enjoy great cultural events. If you ever go there, I hope you will enjoy the love atmosphere just as much as I did !
Plus, with its rich history & its beautiful architectural buildings, this is the city that Upland needs to go to if it wants to be the one and only virtual blockchain game that rules them all. I have no doubt Paris & Upland will get along really well. So, let's understand why & take a quick tour of this amazing city.
QUICK TOUR OF PARIS (NOT EXHAUSTIVE AT ALL)
We will just make a quick tour since there is just so much to say... But I'll try to make it short and sweet, for you to enjoy the main aspects of the city & to show you why this is a place that Upland just cannot miss.
FIRST STOP : Cafe de la Regence
This is a famous place for those of you that enjoy playing chess. It has been a place where the most talented players over the world came to play competitive chess. There are so many famous parties, notably the coming of one of the best chess player of all time (if not the very best), coming from the US, Paul Charles Morphy, who came here for a simultaneous exhibition where he defeated all 8 Masters opponents !
Ok, great, but why it can fit well with Upland ?
Because Upland is the game regarding the uniqueness of the real world minted into the digital one via NFT. For those who just don't know what on earth an NFT is, here is the definition by Wikipedia :
“A non-fungible token, also known as a nifty, is a special type of cryptographic token which represents something unique; non-fungible tokens are thus not mutually interchangeable by their individual specification. This is in contrast to cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, and many network or utility tokens that are fungible in nature.
Non-fungible tokens are used to create verifiable digital scarcity, as well as digital ownership, and the possibility of asset interoperability across multiple platforms.”
So, NFT are meant to capture the unique characteristics of the real world and translate them in the digital world where they can be traded, just as in the real life. A famous place like that needs to be put in the digital world & via Upland this is now possible to mint this invaluable asset on the EOS Blockchain, that Upland uses.
SECOND STOP : Arc de Triomphe
This is a mandatory stop. This is one of the most famous monuments of the city. The construction has been demanded by the emperor himself, Napoleon Ier. Although now it is also vandalized during major football events...
The Arc de Triomphe celebrates those who fought and died in the name of France during the French Revolutionary. You can see carved in the monument itself the names of all French victories and generals. Last but not least, here lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which is one of the famous anonymous soldier that serves as a celebration for those who died for France heroically during WW1.

Ok, great, but why it can fit well with Upland ?
No need to explain how valuable owning such a property is. This is a great way to get yourself more educated, learning more about the great battles & histories behind us. I find this so meaningful to be able to bring them back to us in the digital world, but it is just my opinion after all !

THIRD STOP : Tour de France
Talking about the Arc de Triomphe, it is nearly impossible not to talk about the Tour de France.
For those who don't know it, here is how Wikipedia describes the event :
"The Tour de France is an annual men's multiple-stage bicycle race primarily held in France, while also occasionally passing through nearby countries. Like the other Grand Tours, it consists of 21 stages, each a day long, over the course of 23 days."
During this famous cycling event, you can also travel with the "Caravane" that follows the Tour for 3 weeks and, if you are a true Uplander, buy properties along the way !
Ok, great, but why it can fit well with Upland ?
No argumentation needed, our friend the Lama is already looking at some lands to buy, so it is a must-have for Upland !
FOURTH STOP : Tour Eiffel
This is the very symbol of Paris. You just cannot come to Paris & miss it... That would a sacrilege !
A bit of context : The Eiffel Tower is a tower made of iron & is located on the Champ de Mars. It was designed by Gustave Eiffel for a worldwide exhibition in the beginning of the 20th century. It was initially criticized for its design at the time but it is now the most visited monument in the world with over 6 million people visiting it every year for the past decade or so.
Ok, great, but why it can fit well with Upland ?
Look, just a quick overview, it looks so nice already... We just need the approval of Upland now to get this masterpiece on the blockchain & wish good luck to the future owner because the battle will be fierce !
Personally, I am already ready to buy this property... And I now I will be able to sell it to a good price in the future if I ever get tired of this location - is it possible though?
What is great about Upland is that you can not only buy this property but also customize it , making it truly your own ! And this is what other types of games lack. In Upland, you can create Outdoor Decor Shops for instance. They are responsible for creating blueprints for inanimate portable objects that can be placed on properties. Owners will work together with the Upland team to approve objects, manufacture inventories using staked Spark, and sell their products to other Uplanders. Just as easy as that really !
FIFTH AND LAST STOP : The catacombs of Paris
The Catacombs of Paris are underground ossuaries that hold the remains of more than six million people. The ossuary remained forgotten until it became popular again for concerts and events in the early 19th century. It is open to public so you can have a look for yourself if you are not too scared already... Here is a brief apercu of what you can find there...
In short, the catacombs of Paris are basically a vast maze of tunnels arranged with centuries worth of Paris's dead. This is kind of the "World's Largest Grave".
No wonder it has intrigued so many people already & keeps fascinating people around the world for centuries that need to come there to see for themselves this amazing but also kind of creepy place... If you ever go there one day, you will surely hear about the rumors about deaths & disappearances of explorers that are said to be numerous...
This is in clear contrast to the bright side that you will see in the very center of Paris, which makes it so much more interesting !
Ok, great, but why it can fit well with Upland ?
Upland does not have an underground property market, so I figured out it would be a great place to start. Don't you think ?
FINAL THOUGHTS
Alright, it was just a veeeeeery quick overview of what you would be able to put in Upland from Paris. There is sooooooo much more : Les Buttes Chaumont, which is an amazing park in the north-east of Paris that is on top of the hill and where you will have an amazing view of the whole town; the Bibliotheque Francois Mitterand in the south of Paris which is a wonderful & modern building, just as much as the Palais of Tokyo and so many more; the great restaurants & cafes as well as the beautiful architecture, you won't be miss an opportunity to buy a great piece of property, that is for sure. Not to mention the Musee du Louvre...
I hope you now understand that the earth’s best metaverse powered by blockchain technology needs to put Paris on its map in the near future.
