The debate over the growth potential of various tokens and coins could easily shake the tighest of friendships, and generally speaking, there are a few interesting schools of thought. Some believe that 2022 will all be about the . Others believe that whatever happens, nothing beats BTC and ETH. And then lastly, some believe that 2022 will see the meteoric rise of coins that solve and/or improve a known-issue: transaction speed, gas fees
I think they all have a point but I also think that 2022 could be a great year for Ripple (XRP).
Ripple has been around for a long time, which means it has already survived the 2018 crash - a major breaking point for cryptos in my opinion, because the very fact that cryptocurrencies survived the fall made them a lot stronger - but unlike BTC, ETH and LTC - other old-timers that are still relevant today - XRP is facing another issue that no one else is facing: a lawsuit.
Back in 2020, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filed a lawsuit against Ripple Labs, the company behind XRP, as the SEC argues that XRP is an unlicensed security, not a currency. The price of XRP had been decreasing steadily for years following the ATH ($3.84) in January 2018 but the lawsuit made it crumble, also because a few major exchanges delisted XRP as a result.
Ripple lawyers believe that the lawsuit will be dismissed by the end of Spring and they sound quite certain about it. I guess this may be sound like an all-or-nothing type of prediction, because if they do win the lawsuit, XRP price will begin consolidating and the sentiment will become bullish, but if they lose, well... let's just hope they don't.
Crypto enthusiats tend to be over-optimistic, as am I, and I think XRP will indeed survive and thrive after this. And I hope it does, because XRP is a great coin if you actually want to transact. It's seamlessly fast, transaction fees are extremely and while it is true that many other coins offer the same advantages, I see two reasons why XRP could be potentially more relevant than them: 1, it's been around for longer and 2, if it survives the lawsuit, which it looks it might, it means it will have survived two major shocks (the other one being the 2018 crash), and you know what they say: if it doesn't kill you...
