• Rule 1 == be prepared to lose half of your investment anytime there's a huge bubble in the market and the price continually reaches ATH (All Time High)
--- If u can double or triple ur investment when the markets got u can easily loose that same amount
• Rule 2 == don't panic sell when the price drastically drops. What goes up must come down, when there's a lot of hype n media around a coin because of how much it's price has gone up, stay away from buying at that time just wait the price will eventually peak n come back down and u can save a significant amount of money buying the dip after the bubble burst when people start panic selling.
--- Just HODL! Everyone that holds onto their investment (even if purchased at ATH) n doesn't panic sell will make a profit from BTC long term (most likely just a few yrs.)
• Rule 3 == Don't trust any advice from people on Reddit or anywhere else online. Before investing in anything you should research it yourself n form ur own opinion. Most people's price predictions for crypto coins are vastly exaggerated and the coin most likely won't reach their price speculation any time soon or at all & people like to promote worthless crypto project attempting to get you to invest in them.
My experience with BTC is: in 2018 when BTC was at ATH n had a big bubble like it did at the beginning of 2021, I invested $250. A week later the bubble burst n the value of BTC was cut in half and we entered what some call "crypto winter" where BTC only made steady gains if any for the next 3yrs. untill it had another breakout at the beginning of this yr. 2021. I held on to that $250 of BTC I bought in 2018 n at the beginning of 2021 when BTC was seeing ATH that investment became worth around $3,000! That's why I now follow these rules and don't worry too much about the major price swings of BTC because extreme volatility is completely normal for BTC.
