LR New Player Guide #2: Life in Talmuth

Do repost and rate:

Now that you've explored Talmuth a little bit, let's take a look at the spots where you will spend the most time! Up first is...the general store! You're going to want to visit this store first, as soon as you have some gold. Here, you can obtain uncommon (green) weapons and the ring of rejuvenation (a virtual relic which restores a limited amount of health). Each of these will cost you 500g, and they will allow you to move up from Forgotten Chambers (the first and lowest tier adventure) into two-sword adventures (more on those later). I personally use my bows and kite the monsters more than I use any melee weapons, but that's just what works best for me. The more you practice, the more you'll figure out what works for you.

One thing that is always good to keep around when you move into higher level dungeons that you're not sure about will be a teleport scroll. If you die in a dungeon, you lose all of the virtual items you brought in with you, as well as all items (both virtual and blockchain) that you have collected while in the adventure. With a teleport scroll, if you're about to die you can activate it and exit the dungeon. You will not be able to carry back anything you collected in the dungeon, but you at least will not lose the virtual items you carried in with you. So if you're unsure whether or not you can make it through, this item is a staple, especially if you carried in a significant amount of value with you.

Perhaps the most important place in Talmuth is the tavern. It is essentially the hub of your life in town.

Here at the tavern, you will find your stash (located upstairs), and can also accept bounties (downstairs). As you can see, on the bottom right of my screen I have a list of objectives - these are for the bounty I am currently working on. There are 3 tiers of bounties, and they all offer rewards according to the skills required. Each on offers bounty bucks, which (along with other materials) can be traded in for items once you have enough. You will also earn bonus exp both to your level and to a skill related to the bounty. And finally, you will receive a bounty chest. Depending on the level of the bounty, you will receive a bronze, silver, or gold bounty chest. These chests may either be opened or sold/bought in the emporium. I typically sell a majority of mine, but in reality...there is no wrong choice there. While rare, good blockchain items may drop from these chests. So, it's entirely up to you!

Sometimes, there may be a chance that you'll end up needing to buy some of the materials required to exchange for the bounties. These materials can be found in the Royal Emporium, where you can buy/sell/trade all of your items - both virtual and blockchain. I've seen some confusion about this process, especially since the recent release of the blockchain market, so I'll go through a quick tutorial of all the details.

When you first enter the Emporium, you'll see the virtual market by default. This is the part I've seen the most confusion about lately. A lot of people have missed how to get to the blockchain market, but it's actually quite simple. If you click on the word "virtual", it will show a drop down menu to take you to the blockhain market.

In order to use the blockchain market, you will need Shadowstones - the in-game currency for blockchain items. There are a couple ways to go about acquiring these. You can either purchase them with JENJ, or you can wait until you collect blockchain items you don't want or need, and you can sell those to get your hands on some Shadowstones. I personally bought a few, and feel great about the investment, but it isn't a requirement.

Another thing that I've seen some confusion about regarding the emporium: in order to sell items, they must be in your stash, not your inventory. When you buy an item, it goes straight to your stash, so you'll have to head over to the tavern to pick it up before you can use it.

One thing that you will figure out fairly quickly - while it's everyone's dream to go in, collect a bunch of blockchain items, and earn money - be aware that that is not how this game is set up. Blockchain items are a big part of the game, but it's good to remember that the most important part of this game is to have fun with it. It is not a "get rich quick" scheme, it is a game that is continuously growing and developing. And also, keep in mind - it is created and developed by one person alone - Cliff Cawley. He is a truly remarkable man, and he has created more than just a name. He has given us a truly amazing and supportive community. In my experience, the other players are always ready and willing to help less experienced players, so that we can all grow and improve together along with the game.

If you are interested in supporting the game (and Cliff's amazing work), you may want to consider purchasing a membership. You can do so with a power pendant, available either on the website with cryptocurrency, or in the Royal Emporium where they can be bought and sold with gold (which continues the ability to play this game entirely for free). The power pendant does come with a few perks in addition to supporting the game - non members can only take one new blockchain item out of the dungeon, so if you collect more than one, you'll have to choose with one to take. As a member, you can take out as many as you can carry. You also have access to additional emporium slots, 10% XP boost for monsters, more adventures, a members only in-game chat, and more. (trust me - it's well worth it!)

Up in my next post - it's time to take on your first adventure! I'll take a trip through a couple adventures, show you some things that may help make it easier for you to get through and make advancements, and show you how relics work!

As usual, if you have any additional questions, comments, or things you'd like to see me talk about, please feel free to let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading!
