While I assume most of us on this platform usually think of crypto as a force for change and good change at that, we might need reminding sometimes that crypto could equally easily be used to make things much, much worse. Consider for instance the application of crypto technology to the already highly on-line and app-dominated "dating" scene - or rather the sex market, since Tinder does not exactly deal with or lead to long lived and wholesome relationships, but for the most part enables pure debauchery or a seller's (sex) market. First take a look at this graph, showing you just how unequal of a distribution of wealth (sex) people get off of Tinder.
Now, I am no sucker for the one index takes all fallacy, so unequal distribution is not enough to ruffle my feathers. On the contrary, my masculine pride, as no doubt that of many of my readers, is stimulated by such a steep challenge and I am prepared, if need be, to woo women with words to compensate for my deficiencies in other fields. We know that women are able to select the very cream of the crop of the genetically fit via apps such as Tinder, but we also know they complain while doing it and their main complaint is non-certain data concerning Biometrics, status, wealth and reputation/safety of a potential date. Now consider an app where women are not merely queens, but goddesses, granted full knowledge about potential partners. Here is where crypto comes in.
Imagine the gold standard of online-to-offline dating was an app that would require you to visit a booth for biometrical data collection, where your height with and without shoes, your penis size flaccid and erect, your face and tone of voice were all scanned and described on a blockchain. You would get your account, with the relevant NFTs irremovably stuck to it. It does not end there. submit a bank statement to prove your wealth so that the goddesses know exactly how much you have at least. Finally, any user being a verified female who interacted with you would be able to leave a comment on your profile/address anonymously, the comment to be accessible only to those who would 'swipe right' on you. Naturally, you would not even be able to lie about your zodiac sign like in this humorous clip:
Consider the above satirical dystopia just a bit too far fetched? Well, this is simply because no one has capitalised on the idea yet. The promise of 'safety for women' and 'blockchain-backed, decentralised honesty' would sell the hellscape presented above to millions. You could also link swiping to mining et voila, your social sex credit system is complete, ready to enable you to rake in millions in carefully placed diaper and condom adverts. There it is, I said it because someone had to, but if one of you mofos goes out there and actually attempts this I will self immolate in one of your biometric booths to prove that I am just too hot to handle.
