ETH went live on 30th July, 2015.
Our beloved ETHEREUM has turned 6.
Wikipedia defines Ethereum as
Ethereum is a decentralized, open-source blockchain with smart contract functionality. Ether (ETH or ?) is the native cryptocurrency of the platform. After Bitcoin, it is the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. Ethereum is the most actively used blockchain
Since its launch, we have seen the price

If someone would have bought on its first birthday i.e. 2016 @ $12 and hodl ETHER till today i.e. 2021 @ $2350 .
Annualized return would be 187%
Absolute return would be 19k+%
But of course, we all know, such stats look good only in hindsight. Skill is to have the foresight.
If there's one coin in whole of crypto, someone asks me to buy, its ETHEREUM.
There are reasons for the above statement.
1) Supply - ETH has a current circulating supply of 116 Million i.e. roughly 10x of BTC Supply. Vitalik & Gavin never wanted to keep a hard press on ETH supply so its infinite but with a provision that there would be a growth in supply by 5-9% Y-o-Y. However, with EIP-1599 kicking in next week things might change
2) Vitalik Buterin - The guy neither wants fame nor money(read endless money), he just wants to BUIDL. Neither shills, nor demotes. Neither flash, nor criticize. In fact, the way he helped in multiple countries(not just IND) during second wave of COVID-19 proves that the man is not in the rat-race. [ONLY] Single most trustworthy face in this anonymous world of crypto.
Vitalik Buterin is the only voice of conscience in this money-driven world of crypto
3) Zero Wallet - This is the ORIGIN wallet of ETH. Address = 0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000. No one owns the private key of this wallet. It is used for burning. View it by clicking on this link
It contains around $20Million in ETH & more than 201 ERC-20/721 Tokens with combined value > $1.1 Billion
4) Ethereum is the life force of crypto ecosystem

(In the below article , I am writing in a way to make the concept easier to understand and not factually accurate)
Imagine pre 2014 era, when any techno entrepreneur set out to foray in the world of blockchain. At that time, they must have faced a real hard time to implement their ideas in the blockchain space. Creating a blockchain ecosystem, isn't a child's play. It takes lot of efforts and technical know-how. This was the problem known to all but there was no solution. Until in 2014, a 19-year old came up with a revolutionary technology, which would solve two world problems :
1) Trustless transactions between two parties (without the need of intermediary ) - Smart Contracts - See below video to understand them
2) Making BUILDING on blockchain easy.
Beauty of ETH was that its blockchain was open-source and anybody can build on it. Basically, what it means that the hard part of creating a base blockchain from the scratch which is very time consuming, technically arduous and challenging was removed. Now, a new project could create and launch their ideas on top of existing Ethereum blockchain. Such tokens/coins build on ETH and leveraging its blockchain came to be known as ERC-20 tokens
All of these ERC-20 tokens have common technological standards like gas fees, nomenclature, etc.
A new token which might be competing with ETH in price and tech can BUILD on top of ETHEREUM .
Ethereum is akin to ROOTS of this tree with ETH being its TRUNK
Different projects would be like different BRANCHES & STEM of the tree
And, their Coins/Tokens would be like FRUITS & LEAVES of the tree
An ecosystem which is so huge, and so many coins/projects build on top of it is going to be a multi-bagger GOLD STANDARD
Now, you can probably understand the importance of point 3 (above) i.e. Zero Wallet having multitude of coins running on ERC-20 standard.
ETH is the revolutionary breakthrough invention in blockchain
So, amigos, don't let the new-age ETH-KILLER(s) rattle you. Remember they got famous by being labelled as ETH-KILLER, their identity stems from ETH itself. LoL.
