Mel Pacifico’s soulful voice enters at the chorus proclaiming the title of the song. Strong lyrics like “Done with all the lies I told myself” are testaments to the themes of accountability and maturation. The group also shows their determination when Mel states “hop on the train baby if you wanna, but don’t you get in my way”.

and about this track do we have more information?

you may say to yourself that I was a little light on the presentation of the title and here it is:

Fresh off the buzz of the One Step EP, Montreal powerhouse R&B / funk group Fredy V & The Foundation releases a brand new single that marks the one year anniversary of their debut recording. “On The Rise” is a song that aptly describes the current direction and mindset of the group.

The song is an ode to the theme of personal growth and development. Like many creatives, the pandemic had a strong effect on each individual in the group, causing them to reflect on their collective direction and their role in the musical ensemble. The candid conversations held amongst members served as the inspiration behind the lyrics to this single.

In regards to the musicality of the song, you can hear that the band is really hitting their stride as a production team. Between Cauldie’s synth designs and Frank O’s guitar work, “On The Rise” brings that future-classic feeling we can all relate to. From the Chic-esque rhythm guitars to the modern synth basses, this new creation feels like Nile Rodgers and Kaytranada had a baby.
