I am doing my first piece of real reading. Mastering Bitcoin, 2nd Edition by Andreas M. Antonopoulos. Like, this thing is forreal heavy.
Just as a reminder, I am not a coder. Haven't created an app. Have heard of but don't know what it really means to "push code". Publish it? Or make it public. Idk.
And yes, in his book Mr. Antonopoulos says his intended audience is coders, but I am hoping to expand my capabilities. I have a bit of this (perhaps unfounded) fear that I do not have the skills necessary to be in the modern-day workforce if I do not have at least a decent understanding of coding. Like I do with algebra!
But it's slow going. The books gives you an estimate of how long each section is going to take you to read, and don't get me wrong, I love reading. But I also learn by experience. This books is supposed to be a good dozen hours of reading. I'm new to financial literacy in general, I've just been learning about 401k, mortgages, loans, puts, calls, SO MANY WORDS! So I've naturally started incorporating blockchain and crypto in there as well. It just makes sense.
I remember a couple years ago I bought some bitcoin on a whim, but I wasn't financially secure, educated, or mentally mature (cue of FUD: fear, uncertainty, doubt) enough to hold onto it for more than a volatile couple of weeks. Neither have I yet to actually purchase anything with crypto. But I'm looking forward to the day. I've watched some awesome videos where Mr. Andreas M. Antonopoulos is talking to a group about bitcoin and he says he's been living off of bitcoin for years! Damn! I was very impressed to say the least, because, no doubt, he's gotta be like a billionaire by now? But at the end of his talk he said, "If you've never used bitcoin before, come talk to me and I'll help you set up a wallet and I'll give you some bitcoin." Wow! What a generous guy. Hope to meet you someday Mr. Antonopoulos. You seem like a real gem.
