After a couple of months of testing, Dapper Labs’ officially licensed NFT collectible dapp NBA Top Shot is now available for everyone as part of its open beta.
Playable either via browser or mobile app through Samsung Galaxy Store, NBA Top Shot is also the first dapp to use Dapper’s new Flow blockchain.
This is designed for high performance entertainment experiences such as games, and offers frictionless onboarding in terms of wallet creation.
In terms of the collectible element, NBA Top Shot is based around video moments of spectacular on-court action, which are graded in various rarities and sold either in packs by Dapper Labs or singly by collectors through the peer-to-peer marketplace.
The most valuable moments sold have been of the Lakers’ LeBron James, selling for over $2,000 per NFT. To date, over $2 million has been spent on packs.
There will also be a mobile game – called NBA Top Shot Hardcourt – based on these collectibles and due for release in early 2021.
