I wanted to share a rather amusing incident on an otherwise uneventful day.
Loyal readers may recall that I like to knock off three birds with one stone.
When I go to the supermarket for food, I also like to recycle bottles and cans that I find. I also earn some GST on the STEPN app.

As I bent over to grab the Canada Dry can, I heard “Hey buddy!!!” and a hobo motioned for me to come over.
Curious, I looked around to make sure there wasn’t going to be an ambush. I then crossed the street to see that the hobo wanted to give me something.
His younger friend objected at first, but then realized the older hobo was just giving me his empty cans. At first his younger friend objected because he thought I was going to get a beer as well. LOL
The value of the cans was only thirty cents but it wasn’t the amount.
I was taken aback by his kindness.
Now I don’t know the guy’s life story but I would imagine that he was/is in a physical labor job and he chose to drink his pain away.
I was amused by his generosity but my pride sustained a minor injury.
Perhaps he thought I was a fellow hobo down on his luck. Well in a sense I am but it’s not THAT bad in crypto (yet).
Good Lord Panda! Are things that bad for you now?!?
Thank goodness no. Well, at least I hope it never gets that bad.
Here was a guy that had his own issues to work through, yet he made the effort and time to help someone else out.
I find it sad that the hobo community is more tight-knit than the crypto community.
It wasn’t always this way. There was a time when people would GIVE AWAY whole Bitcoins and Ethereums just to grow adoption and spread the word.
It’s quite sad that there are still so many scammers in the space. Even for good projects so much energy is wasted by throwing shade at each other.
Now I don’t think the crypto community are all out to get you.
There are some that will shout when something seems wrong. For example, this kind ser warned Convex Finance users about a potential exploit:

The Convex Finance team scrambled to patch the flaw. So far nothing serious happened (I hope it stays that way).
Usually when I scroll through Twitter, I see a bunch of “influencers” trying to flex. By tweeting out interesting threads they lure in unsuspecting followers with promises of value.
Usually, they soft shill a project they have an undisclosed interest in or hocking a newsletter. This type of fake alpha makes the community look awful and repels potential newcomers.
Steer clear of these clowns, their long tweet threads might make for good reading material. They might even have a usable takeaway or two but you have go through a lot of fluff and screen for the good stuff.
Here’s hoping the crypto community can learn a thing from the altruistic hobo.
