On January 14th, the launch of XPayments, a new page within X, was announced.
XPayments is a payment system that will allow X users to send and receive money between each other, using various payment methods including, it is speculated, Dogecoin, the favorite memecoin of entrepreneur Elon Musk.
The announcement aroused enormous interest, especially among DOGE enthusiasts, thanks above all to Elon's declared love for this cryptocurrency (in 2021 he defined it as his favorite).
The impact on the value of DOGE has been notable, in just 9 hours on January 20, the cryptocurrency rose 12.8%, reaching a seven-day high of $0.08978.
It is incredible that the page did not have any tweets at the time of the surge, so it is simply speculation as traders hypothesize that DOGE could be integrated into the platform's offers.
It is true that Musk announced the integration of DOGE on X through cryptic messages and bio updates on the platform (or at least, interpretable as such).

Furthermore, going back to 2021, Elon Musk announced that Tesla would accept Dogecoin as a payment method in its merchandise stores, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats etc...

In short, the usual "Elon Impact" on DOGE, his statements years later still trigger market reactions for better or for worse.
The synergy between X's ambitious foray into payments and Elon's affinity with DOGE amplifies the community's expectations for an integrated experience. The possibility that memecoin will be used as a payment method is therefore extremely high, as will be the volatility of the cryptocurrency which, all things considered, will finally become "useful" for something.
