Crypto Passive Income Report - September 2020

Do repost and rate:

My dream of financial independence can be summed up with two words - passive income. I hope to build a portfolio that generates income that will some day replace the income from my employment.

I know it is not much, but below are my crypto income results for the month of September and a few quick thoughts on where I stand. Like I said last month, I am by no means a crypto whale, but I am proud to be a sardine and have to start somewhere.

Staking

Tron - Staking rewards from freezing and voting for a Tron Super Representative = ~56 TRX

I vote for 4 community Super Representatives that pay out automatically and sometimes include bonus tokens (I don't count these tokens in this count). This month was substantially higher than last month for a couple of reasons. First, a great deal of TRX is now involved with staking for SUN, yield farming, and other defi projects, which has lowered the overall freeze rate and increased the rewards for the remaining TRX. Second, I got very lucky this month with some trades, which grew my holdings by a truly breathtaking amount (at least from where I started). Because of this I am expecting my staking rewards to be higher next month too.

Tezos - Staking rewards for baking my Tezos = ~0.086  XTZ

Tezos was my first staking coin (they call it baking). It pays every 3 days and automatically stakes itself (no need to do anything once the process starts). The only work was way at the beginning when I researched a reliable baker that has the right combination of fees, payout, and consistency.

Cosmos - Staking rewards for delegating my ATOM0.067 ATOM

This is definitely and improvement over last month, where I received 0 ATOM. Last month I consolidated my Cosmos holdings and because of the time it took to do so, my staking rewards were pretty low and because of the fees associated with receiving a reward and then restaking the ATOM, I wanted to wait to claim. For now I am trying to limit the frequency of claiming, but I plan to claim once a month until the reward becomes more substantial.

Dapps, Faucets, and Apps

Uniswap = 400 UNI

When news first broke about the UNI airdrop I admit I was a little disappointed. I am proud to consider myself a crypto sardine (the opposite of a whale), but that means I have very modest holdings, especially in ETH, where high gas fees have greatly discouraged me.

However (and I could probably write a whole post about this), I made a failed transaction on Uniswap (this is how I learned about gas costs) which qualified me for the airdrop! I really couldn't believe it when I realized I was eligible. For many (myself included) this is an amazing gift. Looking forward, this is a great opportunity to become established in Ethereum or to look at growing other positions. With this windfall I have already converted some UNI to ETH and have begun earning a small amount of interest as I explore defi on Ethereum.

Dividends - A number of dapps on the Tron network pay dividends from their earnings. I currently own WIN, DICE, and LIVE, which all pay out automatically. This month I decided to sell my small position in 888. For how much I owned, the time waiting and manual payout were not worth the trouble. I may look into it again, but for now, I'll focus on growing the dividends from other projects.

From WIN = ~45 TRX

From DICE = ~24 TRX

From LIVE = ~19 TRX

I grew these positions throughout the month, so it is difficult to calculate a yield. Once I reach "critical mass", I will try to publish that info. I would like to note that these numbers fluctuate daily.

Brave = 10.75 BAT

Brave is truly awesome. I appreciate the privacy aspect of blocking ads and many cookies and I really appreciate rewarding the user with BAT tokens. Continuing the trend from last month, earnings from mobile were lower than desktop, but combined they were also lower than last month (this could be because of my monthly browsing habits).

Faucets and Apps - I'll probably say this every month, but I really dislike faucets. I am not a fan of constantly logging in and viewing ads just to earn 0.00000001 of a coin. Fortunately, there are a couple that pay with ease.

GlobalHive = ~0.000358 ZEC

GlobalHive instantly pays out ZCash, which to me is way better than waiting to hit some threshold that I might never reach. This month I missed a lot of my daily logins, but I'm not going to complain about free crypto.

Fold = 58,000 sats

Fold app gives a certain percent back in BTC when you buy gift cards but also includes a wheel that you can spin for a daily bonus. I really like the app already, but this number should grow going forward when they release their crypto rewards card later this month!

Final Thoughts

Looking ahead to October I plan to keep chugging along and growing these numbers! I am hoping to increase a number of these positions, deploy some capital that is on the sidelines, and enter new positions in other income generating assets. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions on where to look next, I'd be happy to hear them! My portfolio isn't much, but I'm happy with my progress and am excited about the future.

Finally, thank you for reading! This is not financial advice or any kind of recommendation, but an attempt to start a conversation. Please comment with and feedback or thoughts you have.
