Crypto Chess Cup and the Traction it Has Gained

Do repost and rate:

Crytocurrency has grown in popularity so much that there are elite sports tournaments holding competitions where the final prize is in bitcoin and etherium. Chess tournaments like the crypto cup have the top 10 best chess players playing in a tournament to win 100 thousand in bitcoin as the top prize.

This even has given cryptocurrency some great traction! However, with the recent downtrend in the market, the prize pool has lost about 30% of its value. This can be a negative side to having crypto as a prize for tournaments and may even cause massive out lash amongst the competitors. So far, nothing has stirred up from the field of chess players, but outsiders question if this was the right play.

There are future events to come in other sports where bitcoin will be the penultimate prize. The likes of soccer and basketball have looked into having some sort of virtual compensation for the winning team for smaller events to test out different set-ups. The younger fan base will be interested to watch games on the premise that the players are engaged in battle with one another for the grand prize of virtual currency instead of fiat cash.

This is an interesting take on increasing crypto’s popularity and I am truly interested to see where this goes next.
