Welcome to Crypto-4-Beginners,
Learning about crypto can be a tedious experience. It can be difficult to navigate the space, and sometimes overwhelming. I'm here to help walk you through the process step-by-step. I'll literally hold your hand for as long as you need.
I'm DocCrypt0, I've been involved with this space since the early days and I absolutely love crypto. I'm enthusiastic of how many of the concepts of crypto, such as decentralization, blockchain, tokenomics and others will shape the decade of the 2020s~2030s, and I'm excited to take this journey with all of you new and old in the space. It's important to me that new comers first experience with crypto isn't a bad one.
Let me tell you a bit about myself.
In 2009, I was studying mathematics and a friend of mine asked me to look at this new digital money called Bitcoin. I looked at it, and immediately thought it was a ponzi scheme. Of course, I was naive, and ignorant to the grand implications of decentralization and blockchain. A short while later, my buddy returned and educated me on my error in thinking it was a scam. At this time, a single Bitcoin was worth 60$, up from just a few pennies when I first heard of it. But I didn't have much money back then, and we decided instead of buying Bitcoin, we'd mine it.
We spent 300$ each and ordered equipment from Butterfly Labs. At the time, Butterfly Labs was on back orders, and everything in the world of mining was changing quickly - by the time the equipment arrived, it was obsolete. I had gotten discouraged.
Later on, in early 2016, I learned of Ethereum, but was still quite naive to the world of crypto, but still bought a small amount of ETH. I wasn't going to make that mistake again. But then the DAO happened - a major hack that caused 50 million dollars to be syphoned out of the DAO and a fork occurred splitting Ethereum and Ethereum Classic. Again, I lost confidence.
It wasn't until 2017 where I finally started to understand the importance of blockchain, decentralization, and now smart contracts. I didn't invest in 2017, I still had some ETH, and ETC. It went up, and then crashed - I learned more. I learned about the Bitcoin super cycle and the "halving" or as we say as a joke, "The Halvening". I finally began to grasp crypto.
By 2018, I had finally began to acquire a savings, and with the talk of pandemics and inflation, I knew crypto was the place to be. I finally realized that blockchain would be the biggest idea of the decade and that it would gradually make its way into all aspects of modern day life. I saw the potential in smart contracts and furthermore non-fungible tokens. I read into the new economy, a shared economy built upon token-economics.
Since then, crypto has become not just a hobby, but a passion, and a way of life. I've always loved cryptography, and valued the importance of privacy - now full circle, I've found a niche that I not only believe is beneficial to the world, but something that I truly love.
Join me, together we can take this crypto-journey.
