Coinbase One review - is it worth €24.99 per month?

Do repost and rate:

About a month ago, I was given the option to upgrade to Coinbase One subscription service for free, which I did.

As you can predict, the goal is to give you a 30-day free trial period in the hope you'll just forget about it and renew it at €24.99 per month.

And, alas, that's exactly what happened.

I'm now stuck with till the middle of August so I might as well break it down and explain what it is, how it works, and whether I think it's worth it.

Because I'm signed up in the EU, I'm paying €24.99, and that's expensive. I wasn't given any other option so, as far as I'm aware at least, there aren't any other weekly, monthly, or yearly plans.

The price, I'm sure, varies depending on your geography. Then again considering how COINBASE operates due to the maze of rules and regulations, the only thing I'm confident to say is if you sign up to Coinbase One in any EU country, you'll be paying €24.99

Zero trading fees

This is one of the key selling points here.

With Coinbase One, there are zero trading fees.

This means you top up your account up to €10,000 every month and it costs nothing.

Coinbase's fees are pretty high, so if you regularly top up your account, this plan might be worth it

On average, Coinbase charges a 4% on each debit card top up, which means adding €250 to your account, for example, costs €10.

This is up to you basically. If you top up €5-600 or more, then the zero trading fees thing works for you, otherwise it doesn't.

Bear in mind, you don't have to keep your crypto in Coinbase.

For example, I sometimes buy a lot of crypto through Coinbase, then transfer it to my hot wallets or cold wallets just because it's cheaper.

Boosted rewards

The second most important selling point.

At the time of writing, Coinbase users in the EU can earn 'rewards' with Cosmos, Tezos, Solana and Cardano.

As standard, you get a 17.66% APY, 4.82%, 4.35% and 2.00% - respectively.

With Coinbase One, you get 20.01%, 5.46%, 4.93% and 2.27%.

In theory, there are other benefits, such as Analytics via Massari Pro, help with your taxes and a dedicated support team - but I haven't used these ones yet.

So is it worth it?

You need to check three boxes, in my view, for Coinbase One to be worth it.

One, you need to be comfortable keeping your money in Coinbase; two, you need to be the type of user that regularly buys crypto on Coinbase and three, you need to be comfortable leaving a four-figure sum on Coinbase for the rewards.

If you check all these boxes, then yes, Coinbase One is worth looking into.

If you don't, then it isn't.
