New players in Upland are allowed to buy from a protected class of land classified as FSA (Fair Start Act), which allows newcomers to learn the game and make some quick early transactions.
Minting FSA-designated lots are the best/easiest way for new players to get a taste of the action without having to invest too much money too quickly. But it helps to know what to look for, and perhaps this will be of assistance.
Here's a visual guide revealing what I did to mint the property at 5657 North Ferger Avenue in West Clovis earlier today.
I went to UPX.world, which has all sorts of information easily available. I searched Fresno/Clovis for FSA property and then sorted it by mint price.
There are a few false positives up there near the top, but that happens relatively rarely considering the massive scope of the game.
And then I saw the listing for 5657 N. Ferger in the Bullard section of Fresno. 1,920 UPX to mint. I was interested.
I looked up the address in the game. That light gray square with FSA written in dark gray is what you want to find.
Next, I needed to move my explorer into the range. Explorer is the Upland name for your on-screen avatar.
To do that, I needed to use a send. That is the Upland term for when you relocate your avatar to a specific address.
My explorer is a cherry with a Mardi Gras mask and a teal background. It does tend to stand out, if nothing else.
But be careful, as the owner of a given piece of property might have a higher UPX rate than normal. It's right there on the screen, so you should be able to see it easily before you use a send.
This is what it looks like mid-send. Instead of the slow, deliberate pace of the explorer, this will zip you there straightaway.
You arrive rather quickly. I only had one shot to get that screenshot above. No instant replays in Upland.
I would also suggest double-checking one last time that the property is still on the market before you use a send. That bit me once during the land rush when Clovis, California opened up.
Once you are within range, you need to act quickly. Explorers, as the name suggests, are restless types who want to be searching at all times. And the FSA property ready for minting
Notice that I picked an adjacent lot. In some cases, you might be targeting multiple Upland FSA properties in a general area, but be careful not to stretch it too much as the landing radius can be a bit tough to estimate in my experience.
Now it's buying time. You'll want to do this as soon as you arrive via a send.
Buying is rather easy provided you have the UPX available. Check everything carefully before you lock in, though.
With the blockchain, there is no going back once you initiate the process.
Voila, now the transaction is official and the property is mine.
