Cryptocurrency exchange Bitstamp said it had stopped trading and depositing XRP for all US customers on January 8, 2021 due to a lawsuit that the US Securities and Exchange Commission filed against Ripple (XRP).

U.S. customers can withdraw their XRP even though trading activity has been suspended, Bitstamp said.

But users from other countries are not affected by this and are still running as they should, Bitstamp said.

Bitstamp is the first major cryptocurrency exchange to take action on the XRP case which is currently heating up (SEC lawsuit against Ripple Labs).
