I am a child of the internet. I remember when it basically screamed at you as you dialed up through the phone line, and took a good few minutes to load images. That was for sure the wild west of the internet as far as chat rooms and downloading media goes, and it seems like that feeling of vastness and possibility is upon us again in full force with crypto currency breaking all time highs in the market.
The past..I remember when a close friend of mine was talking about the idea of joining the blockchain network and letting it use our CPUs for processing power in exchange for pennies. At the time Bitcoin was a joke basically in the space, and worth less than a dollar. Way less than a dollar. My young mind wasn't ready for what was growing and forming in almost every aspect of this new code. Even when it hit 60 dollars I couldn't push myself to take the gamble. The project was basically tainted by the actions of the Silk Road as well, which even in retrospect, I didn't want anything to do with. Throughout the years this e-money and possible future e-gold has gained much respect and value. It will hopefully stabilize for good. I have faith it will stabilize now that a domino effect of big names such as Tesla & Apple are boarding ship. It's just a matter of time before each of these giants will buy in and most likely add the currency as a payment option as well.
The present..I sit at my modest laptop with a missing key looking back at me as I watch what I could have bought many of at one time for pennies being bought and sold within flashes of each other for over 50,000 dollars each. This is a testament to the idea if you see a cut in the woods, a chance at a better life, then take it. There is still plenty of time to make money here of course. In fact I don't see crypto currency as a race so much as a destination. If we all join in then our investments will grow interest. Seemingly way more than the stock market with these yield percentages I'm seeing, though of course a yearly increase doesn't mean years to come, but there are a few budding Bitcoins just past the main stage and working on their acts as if the future of man depends on it, and it just might.
The future..What does the future hold for crypto or does crypto hold the future?
