I've been investigating cryptocurrency and the decentralized web since the start of May. This blog is an avenue of documentation and expression of my experience.
Whilst not being formally educated in the field of finance or computer science further then being somewhat of a nerd in high school I have been enthralled by the world of possibility that cryptocurrency and DeFi (decentralized finance) offers to the future, especially in our current climate of political and financial uncertainty.
The following have been 3 learning curves I've noticed being concurrent with the aspects I've been exposed to in the world of cryptocurrency.
1. A whole new level of fee's and conversions in comparison to standard minimum deposit/transaction/buy/sell options you might find on your FIAT brokerage portal. This was probably to be expected however the idea of gas and converting between different tokens or finding pathways to buy certain tokens/coins was something to wrap my head around for sure.
2. The level of transparency surrounding transactions and wallet contents, being able to see whats happening inside a given market at next to real time speed was very interesting, watching chains or TXN's as apposed to candles and lines. That being said there is a multitude of viewers to watch your given token/coin. I believe the level of transparency may be the key to solving many problems we face in current systems, I hope to explore these ideas in future posts.
3. The true scale or depth of Cryptocurrency and decentralized networks/applications as a whole, I've barely scratched the surface at the moment and its quite exciting to be perfectly honest. I will explore different areas that I've investigated so far in coming posts such as a few Ethereum DApps and community driven projects that are quite intriguing as well as a few DeFi companies and upcoming projects.
