HODL
"Hold on for dear life". The term HODL made its first appearance in 2013 on the BitcoinTalk forum in the thread "I AM HODLING," created by a member named GameKyuubi. Judging by the text in the post, the user must have been drunk and wanted to communicate his intention to hold his BTCs despite the severe crash that had just occurred. Since then, this misspelled term has become very popular in the world of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. When a person states in a conversation that he is "hodding" or advises to "hod", it means that he believes that one day his coins will be profitable and therefore takes a bullish stance in the long run.
FOMO
Fear of missing out - Fear of being cut off. Refers to the fear of missing out on a profit that might result from an investment or decision. Wikipedia definition: "Pervasive apprehension that others may have rewarding experiences in which you have not participated."
FUD
Fear, uncertainty, and doubt .This term usually refers to news or articles spread in the media that have a negative impact on the market or a particular cryptocurrency. It is considered on par with a propaganda tactic to scare the public.
All time high - Absolute high. It means that the price of a particular cryptocurrency or coin has surpassed all its previous records and is trading at the highest price it has ever reached.
TO THE MOON
Refers to an upward momentum of a cryptocurrency as it continues to rise in price, as in the phrase, "The price of this coin will one day reach the moon!"
CHOYNA
A deliberately distorted way to refer to China. Since China is a hugely influential country in the bitcoin world, it has largely dominated mining and, prior to the crackdown decided last year, trading.
ALTCOIN
Alternative cryptocurrency. A term that by extension applies to virtually any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin.
DYOR
Do Your Own Research - Do Your Own Research. An invitation to self-study the cryptocurrency market and the underlying technology. And to not blindly rely on others' analysis.
OTC
Over The Counter. These are the markets that are not regulated by official standards, where trading takes place only on the basis of the meeting of supply and demand.
SHITCOIN
A coin with no potential value or use.
ASHDRAKED
A situation in which all of one's money has been lost.
JOMO
Joy Of Missing Out - Joy of being left out. The exact opposite of FOMO.
SWING
Zigzag price movement (with strong upward and downward swings).
