The United States Congress is seeking to bring clarity to cryptocurrency and the digital asset ecosystem in an upcoming public hearing that will feature remarks from several industry experts.

The Joint Economic Committee (JEC) will host “Demystifying Crypto: Digital Assets and the Role of Government” on November 17th. The event will also livestream on YouTube.

Democratic Virginia Congressman Donald S. Beyer Jr. will preside over the hearing as the committee listens to testimony from crypto experts.

The bipartisan committee, including members Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), will hear from four witnesses. Speakers at the hearing will be Open Markets Institute’s director of financial policy Alexis Goldstein, Georgetown Law adjunct professor Tim Massad, University of Pennsylvania professor of legal studies Keven Werbach, and Coin Center director of research Peter Van Valkenburgh.

Senator Cruz has been at the forefront of crypto adoption among several members of Congress who have publicly advocated for the emerging asset class. JEC Chairman Don Beyer introduced new legislation aimed at regulating digital assets earlier this year.

You can stream the “Demystifying Crypto: Digital Assets and the Role of Government” hearing at 2:30 p.m. EST on November 17th here.
