Token News PH Consultancy, Inc., a leading start-up in the field of blockchain technology, successfully held its third conference on November 10 at the Peninsula Manila.

This year, the event, titled “Decentralizing the Future: A Closer Look at the New Innovations for Trading, Investment and Finance Using Blockchain”, kicked off with a keynote speech given by Luis Buenventura II, founder of Bloom X, about Bitcoin and blockchain developments in 2019 worldwide and in the Philippines.

On the topic of what to do in 2020, Buenaventura advised the audience to keep educating themselves and remain open-minded and patient.

“Big things take time. The financial revolution is not going to happen overnight and you’re not going to get rich overnight either by investing in cryptocurrency. And try not to buy the hype too much. Understand that there is a certain amount of hype. Keep your ears open, keep your mind open,”, he noted.

The conference also became a venue for international blockchain-focused companies such as Wowoo Exchange, Quanta, and QRC to present their existing and future offerings to an audience of blockchain and cryptocurrency enthusiasts.

Wowoo Exchange CEO Willie Chang discussed the blockchain and crypto trends in Singapore. He noted that traditional Singaporean banks and various industries have started joining the blockchain wave.

Quanta Chief Strategy Officer Harmen Brenninkmeijer discussed how blockchain technology is changing the gaming industry, while QRC CEO Shogo Ishida presented some recent trends on security token offerings.

Additionally, Token News awarded blockchain scholarship certificates to a group of students from the University of the Philippines Diliman who will be part of the planned Center of Blockchain Research and Applications (COBRA).

Dr. Adrian Roy Valdez, chairperson of UP Diliman’s Department of Computer Science, unveiled that COBRA is expected to serve as a multidisciplinary hub for students in and outside UP who are interested in learning about blockchain.

The establishment of COBRA is part of the Memorandum of Understanding that Token News and UP Diliman signed back in August.

The event then proceeded to three trading presentations given by accomplished traditional and crypto traders in the Philippines such as Tsupitero.com founder Miko Sayo, Bitcoin tagalog coach Shariff Geron, and cryptocurrency trader Emmanuel Deiparine.

The three traders afterwards joined a panel of experts in blockchain and trading and shared their insights about traditional and crypto trading, as well as fundamental strategies when trading cryptocurrencies.

Token News organized the conference in an effort to further promote the use of blockchain and cryptocurrency in the Philippines.

“Blockchain and cryptocurrency have been attracting attention as technologies that bring innovation to various industries,” Token News CEO Yuya Sugiura said in his speech, “Cryptocurrencies that added useful function using the characteristics of Bitcoin and Ethereum were released in 2017. Then in 2018, many initial coin offerings were released in the world.”

He added that security token offerings will be the “next big thing” in the industry.

Token News held its two previous conferences in 2018: the first on August 27, 2018, at Okada Manila, and the second on November 25, 2018, at the SMX Convention Center.
