The upcoming film project "The Trade" will be one of the first feature films to be tokenized, according to a press release dated 02-04-2021. It was recently selected for production by Los Angeles-based strategic design consultancy 10,001 plus the former Hollywood production company Storylab.

The film will be based on the 2020 memoir of "Once More Without Feeling" by Bitcoin hedge fund talent Brandon Elsasser, who has also written several articles on the crypto money markets. The screenplay was adapted by screenwriter Jack Roberts, best known for the TV series Dad, Inc and the indie film The Rock'n'Roll Dreams Of Duncan Christopher. The Trade will be produced under the direction of Elsasser and Roberts.

Notwithstanding the memoir, the film will feature a strong female protagonist in the sexist and cutthroat world of Wall Street. The story is a mix of a financial thriller and romance, held together by funny characters.

Roberts explained, “To really navigate the underbelly of finance in a fresh way, it took a female protagonist, which is an adaptation to the book. It offers us a glimpse into both worlds the story explores, in a way that other person perspectives cannot really. It has become a rather interesting design for our time. ”

The Trade will be converted into a digital security that will be traded on the open market by the San Francisco-based company Securitize. Securitize aims to modernize capital markets and is the first end-to-end digital platform registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission to use blockchain technology for transfer agent services.

However, The Trade is not the first film project to make such an announcement. The controversial legal drama Roe v. Wade revealed in October 2020 that the financial services company LCX would offer blockchain services to support the issuance of a tokenized bond, the RVW token. Investors can use the token to take advantage of the film's future revenue and RVW holders are entitled to earn a fixed return. De Roe v. Wade producer Nick Loeb said at the time, "Tokenization through blockchain technology is democratizing investments and will revolutionize the way Hollywood interacts with their audiences."

The Trade is partnering with the Chicago Media Angels investment group, and shooting is expected to begin this fall in Chicago.
