Woj with another wojbomb today, announcing that the point guard of the Detroit Pistons and Reggie Jackson has agreed to a contract buy out and he’s going to be signing with the Los Angeles Clippers.

This buyout should workout for both parties. It’s the right move the the Pistons as they will save some money and get Jackson’s contract off the books. While Jackson gets to join a team of his choice, which is a championship contending team in the Los Angeles Clippers.

Last year was definitely Jackson’s best season, as far as staying on the court. He played all 82 games last year. But this year, he was injured for the most parts, and he came back recently and he was playing some pretty good basketball.

For Jackson to be playing well definitely goes against the the Pistons’ rebuilding plans going forward. If Reggie Jackson helps Detroit win a few extra games, that would not help the team at all.

How Reggie Jackson Fits With Clippers

From the Clippers standpoint, it will be interesting to see how much contribution he can bring. He should be a pretty good fit for the Clippers’ second unit coming off the bench. Jackson provides ball handling skills while also have the opportunity to make some plays. He did average 15 points this season in limited action, and had a career high of 19 points a game in 2015, so he’s a playmaker the Clippers can use in the second unit alongside Sweet Lou and Shamet in the backcourt. Could Doc play small ball like the Rockets with the second unit?

This move also provides some insurance for the Clippers considering the recent groin issues for Pat Beverley, he missed several games leading up to the all star break.

How This Move Affect Reggie Jackson’s Fantasy Value?

Got two words for you…cut him. Drop him like a hot potatoe in all standard format leagues. Clippers’ backcourt is pretty crowded, Jackson would need some injuries on the team to get significant minutes.

Reggie Jackson Contract

Oklahoma City Thunder Contract

Reggie Jackson was drafted by the Thunder in the first round pick (24th overall) of the 2011 draft. He played there for 3 years and made a total of $3.4M there.

Detroit Pistons Contract

After being traded to the Pistons during the 2015 season trade deadline, Reggie Jackson signed a mega 5 year $80M contract extension with the Detroit Pistons. His contract is set to expire at the end of this season. Actually pretty surprised nobody traded for him as an expiring contract asset over the trade deadline.
